I see lots of guys on this site talking about the priority date. How does that affect the way USCIS handle your I-485 after it is submitted? My understanding is that this date will determine whether anybody CAN file an I-485.
I guess I am from the ROW and suppose to be current. Does it make any difference AFTER you submit your I-485?

Even after your I-485 is filed, the priority date of your application is important. Your priority date needs to be current for your I-485 to be approved. For example, if you file your I-485 now (when all categories are current), then 2 months later, your category gets retrogressed to some time before your PD, then your I-485 will not be approved until the priority dates being processed move forward again, beyond your PD. Basically, at the time a visa number is issued for your application, your PD needs to be current.
Being current as of today enables you to apply for I-485, get EAD, AP, but does not guarantee that you will be issued an I-485 in 6 months. The retrogression can still affect you.

Good question, I will also like to know how does PD affects I-485 applications for EB1C category? (Intra-company Exec transfer) ?
Assuming you submitted I485 when the PD was current for your country, if you submitted I485 and as of today your receipt date is BEFORE the date shown on the PD (visa boletin) then your process is fine? Would that case put the process on retrogression?
