Pros of EFile

1. Immediate receipt number
2. Data entry is done by you online and not by a USCIS agent, so less chance of errors
3. No cost associated with taking passport photos (you goto the USCIS center)
4. Use your credit card and get some points

Cons of EFile

1. USCIS schedules your photo/fingerprint appointment, so thats a hassle

Advantages of Paper File

1. No hassle of going to USCIS center for photo/biometrics

Disadvantages of Paper File

1. You have to wait a while to get receipt number and receipt notice
2. Possible data entry errors

On the whole I believe they both take the same amount of time to issue an EAD, but in my personal experience i believe efile is faster.

I have been throught this process, I prefer paper file as everything goes in one package, for e-file you have to get the biometrics notice then take time off and go for the appointment and also you will have to send supporting documents.

Hi ALL,

i have sent the EAD Renewal application form to the texas service center with $340 check, 2 photos, exisiting ead copy ( front and back ), last ead approval mailer copy, pending 1-485 receipt copy and existing i-94 copy( front and back ).

Actually, i clipped my above mentioned documents separately and my wife's above mentioned documents separately and have sent them in a single Fedex envelope. Both my and my wife's category is (c) (9).

The fedex tracking shows that uscis received them on 23rd June.

1) The check has not be cashed out yet. Could you pls let me know how long normally it takes for check to be cashed out and when will they issue a receipt.

2) i forgot to put the covering letter for both my and my wife's application. is it okay.

3) i forgot to write "i-765 renewal" on front of the fedex envelope.is it okay.

4) i did not send the copy of my and my wife's passport or visa.is it okay.

5) i have sent both renewal applications ( for me and my wife ) in a single packet.

Could you pls help me out with my above questions.

Sincerely Appreciate your reply as i am concerned after going through the various posts.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards

Siva

I think you should be fine. Give it a week for checks to be cashed and 2 weeks for receipt , if your bank shows check images you can read receipt # from back.

485 receipt and previous EAD should be good enough, that is what i sent and got recepit number.
