Try calling them again. You never know when it works. I also sent a letter to Ombudsman (you can sent by next day FEDEX) and they mailed a letter to me dated 9/8/08 saying they will followup on my case as my EAD renewal was pending for more than 120 days. And my case status changed to CPO on 9/11/08.
Difficult to say if it is due to their intervention or not but you can try that.

Ombudsman provides recommendations for resolving individual and employer problems with the USCIS. Ombuds man is like third party and directly reports to DHS deputy Secretary.
Below website provide more information. On this page you can see contact Ombudsman and select Case problem

Hey guys...

I have a question about the expedite request that usually seems to work for most people. What kinds of documents do you submit to prove hardship? I'm unemployed and have credit card debt. I have very little money in my account and I have been out of status for years and am now adjusting. I don't have a driver's license and I need to the EAD to get that and to finally start working. Is this enough of a reason? Do I need to prove all of this, or just explaining it is enough?

Can u pls add me in.
I have e-filed my EAD (fresh application not renewal) on may 5th @ VSC. Its been 140+ days and still waiting..
here is my case summary
Form No: 1765
E-filing date : May 5th 2008
FP: May 30th 2008
Soft LUD : 08/07/2008 ( for address change)
Visited Infopass and called in USCIS several times.

On Sep 5th USCIS IO accepted to raise a service request and asked me to wait for 30 days to get a communication from VSC.
I called up USCIS a week after and i was informed that VSC might take 30-45 days to communicate and they also have 30 days time for the mail to reach me...Oct 5th is the 30th day mark..grrrrrrrr........i gotta wait

All you folks out there can suggest if anything can be done and how to call in for a expedite processing.
Also when i read thru the post, looks like i am the only one from VSC :(

Hi itsfam

Sorry to hear that your EAD is taking so long. I was in the same position as you - e-filed new application on May 5th but at Nebraska. Finally got my card last week.

Have you sent all of the supporting documentation for your application? This is where I lost time as I e-filed I wasn't 100% sure what the additional documentation was. I got an request for additional info at about 120 days - just wanted to check you have sent everything as this might help speed up your case if you haven't.

Kind regards

Crazytomato

Hi crazytomato,

congratss on your card!!!

Mine is a diffrent stroy i guess...i came to US on L1 visa. My husband came sometime after, so i applied for a change in non-immigrant staus (I-539) so i can be his dependent (L2) and still work , that is the base on which i have applied for EAD. I have submitted all the possible documents Marriage certificate, My Visa, I-94, my husbands visa and I -94.

Also i did not get any communication from VSC requesting additional documents.

Lets c how it goes...btw do u know anybody from this club whose case is in VSC?
i just checked processing times for VSC and for I-765 they have just mentioned 3months. on Sep 15th they posted processing time for I-765 was June 1st now it just says 3 months.... this whole thing is a big confused mess....

itsfam,

I believe your service center is Vermont???

if that's the case you need to send an urgent fax to Vermont and ask to expedite your EAD..That is the only way you can get this moving...

If it is the Vermont center then the fax number is 8025274816.

itsfam,

If you don't have any offer yet..then just write a firm and short letter..let them know that your application is pending since MayXX for xxx days and ask for EAD expedite request to help out your family needs...

Hope that helps.

hello folks,

after all ur advice, i called uscis 800 # to just give a try on expedite processing.
The CR who took the call was kind enough to accept my request and she has raised an expedite service ticket on financial grounds...i told i have pending bills to be paid, credit card debt, auto loan and i have no offer because of no EAD.
Hopefully this works...the CR said VSC should reply to me by this weekend.

i am keeping my fingers crossed.

bad luck, i just called the uscis helpline and i was informed that my request for expedite processing is denied as the reason was insufficient to support the emergency processing. the CR put me thru to an officer, she was not of much help, she asked me to take an infopass appointment or write to the VSC directly. pls advise wat do i do?

Guys, I would like to share with all of you my experience with my EAD renewal. Today, after 104 days, I finally got a CPO status online. But this is after a series of long and agonizing calls to customer service, expedite requests, service requests, emails to Ombudsman. This is how it goes:

1) July 31 - Receipt date
2) Aug 1 - RFE for 2 photos (I don't know if they lost my photos in the mail because I sent 2 pictures with the application).
3) Sep 18 - I received a mail that they got my new photos on Aug 28
4) Sep 23 - Called USCIS to request Expedite Processing due to financial situation
5) Sep 24 - Got an email from USCIS that they will review my case and my expedite request (up to this date, there was no update on this Expedite request - not denied nor approved, and no additional documents were required).
6) Oct 2 - My EAD expired; there was a soft LUD online
7) Oct 28 - Opened first Service Request
8) Oct 30 - Infopass appointment at local uscis office (this was the 91st day my EAD renewal was pending) - Officer emailed NSC to Expedite my case since it's past 90 days.
9) Nov 1 - Called customer service - I was told that as of this date, my photos and signature have been scanned into the system.
10) Nov 3 - Called customer service for any updates
11) Nov 6 - Opened another service request
12) Nov 7 - Received email from CAO that he email NSC to expedite processing since my application has been pending for 97 days.
13) Nov 12 - Status changed to CPO

On top of this, I have been constantly emailing the CIS Ombudsman - they have been very good and replied to my emails promptly, and followed up on my case with Customer Assistance Office.

So finally after 104 days, the agony is over. Now I just need to wait for the card to finally arrive.

I don't know which helped my case - but I'm pretty sure the Ombudsman did a great job with calling CAO. I believed this in large part really helped my case.

How do you contact the ombudsman? I am waiting with a August 4 receipt date. I have tried to call the customer service a few times but they are completely useless.

Thanks.

Send and email to this address: cisombudsman.publicaffairs@dhs.gov, they are pretty prompt in sending a reply and checking on the status of your application for you.
