Topic: How long does it take for EAD renewal Check to clear
Hi,
My lawyer sent EAD renewal for me and my spouse 2 weeks back to TSC which is under jurisdiction for my area. I have been reading and people in this forum have got their checks cleared in 3-4 days after application reached uscis. Even my colleague in the same comapany sent the application last week thru same lawyer and same service center and his check got cleared. Is there anyone who had similar experiences? My lawyer says sometimes USCIS takes time. Please share your experiences. My check still hasnt cleared!!

07/15/08 - Check cleared from bank and case id is printed behind it.

I sent my wife's and my application for renewal to TSC on 7/7/08 by fedex overnight. Checks got cleared on 7/11/08. Got receipt notices on 7/15/08.
I think you should check whether the application reached to TSC.

Thanks Pnathani and GCBond007. I think I first need to confirm with my lawyer how he sent the application and take the tracking number. I had called USCIS customer service. I selected the option receipt number not known and I got an automated messege that it can take upto 4 weeks to receipt an application. Wait for 4 weeks before you call customer service. So i think I have no option but to wait for 4 weeks as even if I call and speak to USCIS rep, they would ask me to wait anyway.

does anyone else have delay in check getting cleared and issuance of receipts for EAD? Would appreciate any reply.

I didn't think they clear the checks that fast huh... Anyway, did you guys make 2 separate checks for you and your spouse or just one check. I assume one check right?

my RD is 07/15...lets see how soon the checks get cashed. I will update you here when they do. my expectation is by Monday 7/21
--I sent two different checks since i created two completely different packets for the 2 apps.

We made two separate checks for 340$ each. The rate at which others are getting check cleared is making me think something fishy is going on with my packet. My lawyer asked me to call tomorrow to check if they have recd the recipts. I will take trackng number tomorrow and see where the packet is. This is driving me crazy since its two weeks now after the packet has been mailed out.

Thanks supertrooper. My lawyer mailed out the two applications. So I am not sure whether it was a single packet or two different ones.

I made 2 seperate checks for my wife and myself and also made to seperate application fedex envelopes.

gcprocess, when you hear the message about the 4 weeks blah blah blah, press 1. Your call will be transferred to a human being.
Don't wait, start calling them.
BTW, my checks took 7 months to get cashed and my AP checks were never cashed until now and the applications are still lost.

A friend of mine, back in july 07 had faced similar issues... his checks didnt get cleared for months. USCIS wouldnt tell much either. I guess eventually they found the app/checks......So this time he efiled to be safe.

:) I did the same for AP, as I needed to travel and my July/07 applications never were found, then I efiled a new one on 5/1/08 and it's still pending.

First I want to Thank everyone for updating and advise. I just spoke to my lawyer and they said that they sent 25 applications that day and they have confirmed that all applications reached TSC. They have recd receipts for just 10 applications until now. They said that it is their responsibility and advised me to wait for one more week as it may take upto 4 weeks sometimes and now its just 2 weeks. They said that they will take care and not to worry. I know my lawyer is very competant and is very prompt from past experiences. So i think I will wait for a week.

Last year because of the fiasco Jul/Aug it took several months for USCIS to deposit checks related to EAD and AP, so it was not surprising that your friends check didn't clear for months. There were millions whos checks didn't clear for a long time, since many were new EAD/Ap applications. If one is renewing the EAD/AP once the USCIS receives it, it should clear soon.

Hello Everyone,
I applied my I-765 in July-2007 and i got it some time in Oct 2007. Since there was a typo in my EAD, I had to send it back.
On Feb 11 -2008, USCIS issued a new card and mailed it out. Unfortunately I never received the card.
As per my old card, it was going to expire on Oct 16 2008.
Now my question is since it is going to expire do i have to apply as a new applicant or apply as lost or renewal?
If i apply as lost, will my new card be valid for one additional year?

Someone told me that you can ask USPS for a special service which cost $5 and they'll send the copy of cashed money order back to you with the info (both sides).
However, I didn't use that service. Good luck! |

durgaraju, apply as renewal, as if you already received the card. It will be the more expedite procedure.
If you start asking for replacement and you don't have the card because it was lost, it'll take long and difficult.
I think you better start renewal process.
Unfortunately, your card will be valid starting the expiration date of the previous one.
I'm waiting to do the same as the last resource I have left, since I sent cards for replacement twice and I didn't receive the replacements so far.
But my cards have expiration date Feb/09 then I can't renew just now.

Hi gcprocess,
First of all it is important to make sure that USCIS has received your mail. Generally people sending themselves have proper tracking information. Without that there will be several ifs and buts.
Once it is received by USCIS, it is generally cashed in 3-4 days. Your friends and your information about this is correct.
Further if you do on-line banking and can access reverse side of check, you can get information about receipt number.

We sent our renewals on 6/2, checks cleared on 6/12 and got 2 -year EAD's on 7/17

Update!!! My check has got cashed today. I entered the receipt number on the back of the check and it shows receipt date as July 18th.I am not able to figure out why the application received is showing July 18 when my lawyer is saying they sent the application in first week of July. I will have to wait for receipt notice to see what date is actually on the receipt. My spouse's check is still not cashed. May be by tomorrow!!!!

The online status always reflect the notice date (the day that the notice was generated by uscis). You'll be able to check your receipt date when you receive the actual printed notice. Receipt date should show the received date.

Update!!! The check for my spouse also cleared from the bank today. It took almost a month now. I have to check what receipt date will come up on the notice. As of online it shows August 1st which I believe is the date the notice was generated. My patience paid off!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the check cleared within the USCIS 4 week window period!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of mail method do you use ? I mean FedEX / USPS ? With / w/o delivery confirmation ?

Hi. I am not sure because my lawyer sent my application. But from previous experiences I am sure they sent by USPS express mail.

You can use USPS Priority Mail with same results as Express. Use Flat rate envelope provided by USPS at no cost.
If you do it online, you'll get tracking conf. right away. If you go to Postal office, ask for tracking #.
Express is about $16 and takes 2 to 3 days, Priority is about $4.75 and takes about 3 to 4 (I mean, after package is picked up from PO BOX, next day after arrival to destination).
Any USPS service you chose, you will get:
Day 1 -> Notice Left
Day 2 -> Delivered

I have applied for renewal EAD on Sep 03,2008. Check got cleared on Sep 5 and received receipt notice on Sep 8.
Can you tell me whether and when you got your new EAD's, so can assess mine as well?
Does the processing time for EAD in TSC processing dates apply or do they renew it irrespective of it?my EAD expires on Sep 26,08.
