Topic: Is this the final Stage??background check
Posted by pop25 (1) 22 Jul 2008
I was asked to brring in my fingerprints to the port of spain office on the 12th of June 08 so that they can do a background check from my stay in canada and Trinidad. Does anyone know how long this process might take? I don not have any criminal record.

6 weeks to a year depending on your history (like military service etc.)

If you have anything out of the ordinary, like the military as did my husband, it will be longer. They gave him a piece of paper that said to get the info. in right away as it "could take 12 to 18 months to complete the investigation". It took a full 18 months for them to do it. Grrrrrrrrr A better measure of when things are nearly done is when they ask you to sumbit a passport, or renewed one. Then it is closer.
