Topic: Citizenship Requirement for Minor Children
Posted by muradkhan79 (2) 04 Mar 2008
I was granted Canadian Citizenship in April 2006. Now I wanted to apply for the citizenship for my kid who is a landed immigrant of Canada but has been out of Canada for more than two years. My query is:

1) As the kid is out of Canada for more than 2 of the last 5 years, does his status of permanent resident still intact for filing of the citizenship application (I understand that kids do not have to meet 3/4 years residency requirement for filing of the citizenship application, but here the case is different as explained earlier).

2) If application for citizenship can be filed, can I being the father and Canadian citizen apply for his citizenship while he is still abroad or do he need to be present here in Canada when application for his citizehship is filed.

3) If he can be away while application for citizenship is filed, the photographs have to be taken by a photographer outside Canada. Would these photographs be acceptable bearing stamped address and date that of a foreing country photographer?

Your comments and valuable advice is sought.

It is strange that either no one knows the reply to the posted queries or does not have time to ink the comments.
