Topic: Timeframe for biometrics appointment letter
Or you can try calling them just to make sure that there is nothing wrong. I submitted my forms/check on March 12, 2008 and I had my biometrics appointment for 4/4/08, it took less than a month. If it has been three months since you submitted your forms, and got a letter letting you know that biometrics is the next step, you should call. It won't hurt to make sure everything is going ok. |

They also sent me a letter requesting more evidence. I never got an email letting me know that they were requesting evidence though. I just got it in the mail. The sheets are yellow and I got three, each one stands for extra evidence they needed. One of them was my birth certificate, it said that if it is in a different language to go get it notarized and translated which I did. The other two were in reference to my sponsor. My mom is the one who submitted the paperwork for me since she is a legal resident then she is my primary sponsor. The problem is that they explain in the forms that we sent that the income of the beneficiary (me) could also be used if we feel that will make it more likely that we get accepted. I sent copies of my tax refunds for the last three years along with my mom's. Basically the other two pages requesting evidence were for me to show proof that the money I was making was earned in a legal manner (which is not bec I do not have a s.s) I just had to find another sponsor, fill a new form out and mail all in one packed along w original yellow papers they sent so they know the reason why I am sending new forms.
I suggest that if u do not receive the request for evidence letter in the mail, that u call customer service and let them know so that they mail them again. That happened to me once, I checked online and it said that they had sent something about 3 weeks prior and I never got it, it was "time sensitive" which meant I had a month to reply. I spoke w/ c.s and they started the countdown again and mailed it (I got it like 3 days later)
They give you I believe something like 75 days to reply to the request for evidence, but obviously the faster you send it the better it is for you as they will resume your case as soon as they get it.
My request for evidence was received May 1 of 08 and when I check my case status online it just says that they received it and that they will resume my case.
So far I have not received my EAD or anything, the message remains the same. Last week I called and spoke with c.s and they said that they were working past my processing date which means I should have gotten something already. They gave me a referral # and promised the email me within a month letting me know why they have not moved forward w my case. He said that everything looked fine and that most likely they made a mistake and forgot to get my case out of "hold" where they had placed it while waiting for my evidence. You must be on it or else they make mistakes, I hope the same doesn't happen to you.
Let me know if u have any other ?'s or what your request for evidence asks for
wow, I wrote a lot....sorry if this is too long or confusing and hope it helps clear out, CIS could be soo frusrating |
