Topic: Fees due with passports?

Hi Ray
Thanks so much - I think we must have in fact paid them at the outset - I kept a note of what we'd paid but it's at home in UK with hubby who can't find his way around my (very well organised!) paperwork. Ahh well, I'm sure we'll find out, either way, hopefully without too much of a delay!!
Cheers

Topic: Fees due with passports?

Thanks Todiefor.
I'm just not certain if we paid that at the outset, we might have done, but my husband has the paperwork (in the UK) ... Anyway, I'm sure they'll tell us, hopefully without any huge delay!
Thanks again

Topic: Fees due with passports?

Does anyone know what (or if there are) fees due at the time of submitting the passports? There is nothing in the form or the letter advising of any payment whatsoever. If anyone could save me the time (and hassle) and let me know asap, I'd be much obliged!
Many thanks

Topic: How long do they take to stamp and send back the passpot?

I heard that it can be at least six weeks if you leave it to them to return. If you collect in person, you go back in two weeks. We're taking ours in tomorrow in person ...

Topic: forms

I don't know whether you've found the info on this question you posted, but in case you haven't: We are representing ourselves as we sacked our lawyer. At that time, we had to complete the 'Use of a Representative' form (IMM5476) and sent it to the Embassy.
Hope that helps.

Topic: HOW LONG AFTER MEDICALS DONE?

Passport Request
Does anyone know how long the CIC hold onto your passports for once you get to the PPR stage? Would it be likely they'd accept them delivered in in person, ie to take away the same once they're done, or do they require them for some time (what do they do with them??). It's occurred to us that, of course, once they've requested your passports, this prevents all travel to Canada in the meantime.
Any feedback would be gratefully received.

Topic: Schooling

Does anyone know whether it's possible to register children in school in Canada, prior to residency being granted, on the assumption that it will be granted?
We have informed the school that we intend to enrol the kids. We own a house (so are tax payers) in the right district for the school (that big yellow bus stops right outisde our door!!), it couldn't be more ideal ...
We're intend to go over this summer and stay there, awaiting the residency confirmation. Are we being naive? We've had our 90 day letter and will soon be sending off our updated docs in response.
Any ideas how long the system is currently taking (medicals, interview etc) up to visa being granted?
Is anyone else in the same boat, or perhaps have already done this? I'd love to hear from you asap.
Cheers!

Topic: is it useful to get a lawyer?

In our experience, having a lawyer was of no advantage whatsoever, in fact it delayed the process. They took a year to submit the documents which we completed and had notarised (they had our photos for six months in their file, before advising us they weren't quite to the specifications required, for example)
You have to complete the forms yourself so, really, all they do is send it all off. It doesn't get you into the system any quicker. Once in the system, you can check your status online yourself anyway.
I don't see any advantage in hiring a lawyer at all (and it isn't cheap), but that's just my opinion, perhaps others have had positive experiences?

Topic: DECISION MADE

You seem to be pretty knowledgeable - I wondered if you (or anyone) could please advise me what are the specific documents required ie, 'updated docs'? I believe that is likely to be our next step, although probably next year now. I'm not entirely sure what the process is.
Any info would be gratefully received!
