How stupid can one be? Stop fooling yourself. You are only setting you up from a ban to ever entry Canada again.

Topic: Landing & PR Card

You don't need to apply for PR card. You get it automatically after you have landed and given CIC your address. It takes 30-60 days for the card (I got mine after 60 days).

If you travel and have no PR card you will have to apply for travel documents from the Canadian consulate in the country your travelling fram.

...logic says that the 730 day rule is only applicable once you reach the point where you cannot accumulate 730 days in the remaining time of the five year life of PR status...

john5655 - you are absolutly right. My misstake.

Topic: I did not reenter for two years

When IndyCanada returns to Canada they will ask him/her how long he/she was out of Canada. If he says over 730 days, he will be admitted for 30 days to appeal his loss of PR status. If he/she says less than 730 days he is good to go. He he/she doesn't tell the truth - well, you're taking a big risk to be banned from Canada for 10 years and forget about ever getting an entry visa again.

Topic: I did not reenter for two years

It doesn't matter what the date on your card says. You landed in Jan 2007 and stayed for 45 days, right? Just count the days you have been out of Canada, if it's less than 730 days you can go, if it's more than 730 days you have to reapply.

You have to reside in Canada 2 years each 5 year period or you loose you PR status. You may have lost your status and you will have to reapply under the new rules.

The DMO will not add "remarks" to your file. Be a little assertive, don't have to be rude.

You can have it in 30 days or less, but it can also take longer. I got my card after 2 months. You can't check status on e-case as far as I know, but you can call the 800 number and ask if it has been over 30 days and you haven't received it yet. That's what I did only to find out that IO waited 30 days to enter my addres in the systems, hence the delay. They confirmed my address over the phone and I had my card a few weeks later.

Since you don't have your PR card you will have to drive as you can't fly without the PR card. You can cross the border by land (driving - not train, or bus) using your IMM 5292, or Confirmation of Permanent Residence. If you want to fly you can also apply for travel documents at the Canadian Consulate. I'm not sure how long that will take. Off course you can also have someone send the card by mail.

Topic: Visiting Canada before Sponsorship approval?

The processing time for a parent/grandparent sponsorship application is currently 27 months, so you will not hear anything in a while until a decision is made. The only way to find out if they have received your sponsorship application is if you have a tracking number from when you sent it. You can try and use the receipt number to see status on e-case - it may work, but e-case with the use of receipt number is not always reliable.

Topic: Processing times and procedure for sponsoring parents

You complete the sponsorship application and your parents application and file them both in Canada. I beleive all FC, including parents, are sent to CIC Mississauga, but look that up. Once the sponsorhsip application is approved, CIC will forward the application to India for processing of the PR application.

Topic: Processing times and procedure for sponsoring parents

Current processing times in New Delhi are 5 to 33 months. 30% are processed in the first 5 months, but most of them are rejections. As long as your case in straight forward and simple I would think you are looking at about one year (after the sponsorship application is approved). Current processing time for the sponsorship application for parents and grandparents is 27 months. Your total processing time will be 2-3 years

Topic: Income Tax File Info

First, let me say that I am NOT an expert on taxes, but let me share what I did. When we got married, I lived in the US and my wife in Canada. As a non-US citizen or legal resident your wife can apply for TIN number as she can't get a SIN number. That year I hired a tax consultant to file my taxes and I trust he gave me the best option for my situation.

Topic: How to cancel Canadian PR.

There are forms and instructions on www.cic.gc.ca for renewal of PR cards. You have to reside in Canada for 2 years each 5 year period, or you will loose you PR status (it doesn't matter that your PR card hasn't expire yet). You must have proof that you have lived in Canada for at least 2 years. If you have lost you PR status (which you probably have) you will have to submitt a new application for Permanent Resident.

We applied via Buffalo. They told us our application could take up to 9-12 months, but it was processed and approved in just over 90 days.
