Topic: Trump cancels visa drop box

I submitted my application/passport thru drop box on Jan 30 - that was the day the EO news came out. Hopefully, things will go thru fine.
I am expecting a 221g.

Can someone pls provide info? If one gets 221g, will the consulate pick interview dates or I can schedule the next available slot?

Topic: Interview Waiver Program "Dropbox" experience for H1B in India

My wife picked up the passport yesterday (12/26).
Got the pick up ready email on 23rd. The email was a little confusing though. But, all good and process was smooth.

Topic: Interview Waiver Program "Dropbox" experience for H1B in India

Well -

My wife submitted her passport for visa extension (h-4) thru drop box in Chennai and this is what I did. The case is under admin processing now.

1. created a login in ustraveldocs and created a new application
2. Since our visa's were handled by our employer previously, I was not able complete the new application as we were already a part of our employer's acct. So, raised a ticket and it got resolved next day.
3. Completed DS-160
4. Completed the new application in ustravel docs and used net banking to pay (used NEFT).
5. After a day, the ustraveldocs had the payment confirmation number in a drop down box and I was able to complete the application.
6. Once done, I think I saw the drop box confirmation letter in the next page.
7. Wife got all the docs ready (with a new photograph which they rejected the first time saying ears are not visible clearly???) and submitted the docs on 12/19.

Case was created on 12/20/
12/22 update : Administrative processing

With Christmas holidays now, not really expecting a status update until mid next week.

Is there a good how-to post from start to end for the DropBox processing? If there is one, can someone please point me to it? Thanks.

Topic: H1b transfer - Prem proc - delay in acknowledgement

They already did - but no response from them. It's like the packet that was delivered vanished into thin air. All we have is delivery confirmation from courier - after that nothing has happened yet.

Topic: H1b transfer - Prem proc - delay in acknowledgement

It is more than a week now since packet was delivered through courier - still no news on acknowledgement.

Guess the petition is lost or something - is anyone else facing issue? This is h1b transfer in premium processing. Attorneys have tried to contact uscis with no luck - finance has no news either on checks.

to me
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your visa inquiry. As an Indian National you may transit without a transit visa in Frankfurt if you return from the USA after having used the U.S. visa and the following information does NOT apply to you:

Please note:

Airport transit privilege does NOT apply and you will need a visitor visa

1. if you have to pick up your baggage and/or have to check-in again (please verify with your airline).

2. if you are transiting through two or more airports in the Schengen Countries (for example: Miami-Frankfurt-Paris-India or New York-Frankfurt-Munich-India).

3. if you hold an open ticket.

Kind regards,

Topic: Transit Visa - via Frankfurt (H1 B expired)

Being a Indian citizen, one does not need transit visa when travelling through Frankfurt,Germany (although Indian IT company's travel dept would say otherwise).

Here is the reply from German Consulate.

Yes, I understand it as you do that you do not need a transit visa in the circumstance that you describe. If you'd like more definitive confirmation, please contact the German consulate general in New York which handles visas (copied on this email).

Dear Sir/Madam

I am a citizen of Indian origin and I am travelling to India with transit in Frankfurt, Germany. The transit will be for a couple of hours with no local travel or entering Germany.

I have an expired H1 USA work visa on my Indian passport.

From the below link, I learned that, I do not need a valid USA visa when returning back to my home country, if I have a transit in Germany.

Can you please confirm the below information? Thank you.

Exceptions: Nationals from the above list (India is in the list) are entitled to transit through the international transit zones without an airport transit visa:

1. If they hold a valid visa for the United States of America
2. If they return from the USA after having used the visa

Hope this helps.

Topic: H1b transfer - Prem proc - delay in acknowledgement

Hello

My new employer filed h1b under prem processing and the courier reached USCIS on 5/27 - still waiting for acknowledgement. In the past I have received the ack in 2-3 days max. Have asked to chk if the check has been processed from new company's finance dept.

Are they delays from USCIS for premium processing now? Even ack is getting. Thnx.

Topic: SAVE Verification issue - PA DMV PennDOT license

Thank you. This is the 4th week - typically these get completed in 3 weeks time - at least that's what I hear. Hoping to get the letter soon.

They should really provide at least a 60 days temp license in these cases.

I tried and other DMV s not ready to touch the case added by the original one. Also, three diff customer reps on 3 diff days told me there is no case number associated with it. We will send a letter once we receive an answer - that's the common answer.

Thanks - how responsive are they when you call? Do they understand this issue or is it same as DMV who do not dare to think outside the book?

Topic: SAVE Verification issue - PA DMV PennDOT license

Hello

I recently went to PennDOT (DMV for PA) for license renewal on 4/4. At this time, my H1b extn was filed based on I-140 (as it was extension beyond 6 yrs) and I was waiting for approval. I took me Extn acceptance notice - but was told that they were not able to verify my status in SAVE and was denied even a provisional license.

It was sent for additional verification to DHS on 4/4. Till today, there has been no update. I was told it will be completed typically with in 3 weeks. 3 weeks have passed since.

I now have H1b approved with petition papers - I called PennDOT and explained that I have an approved H1 now, but, was still told since my case is already out there they cannot do anything until they hear back - which might take 30 business days or more. No SAVE case number given too.

Is there any way I can follow my case with USCIS/SAVE or any dept? Will it be of any help?

Any pointers/help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Yes. It is the same A# if the H1 is approved based on the I-140. I believe there is only 1 a# assigned to a person..

Topic: EAD for H4 Visa Holders

Ok - I did not know that. Thanks for the info.

So, once EAD is acquired, SSN can be applied. and when that is done, need to port all the tax filings to that SSN? When the spouse is in H4 wouldn't he/she have always filed "married filing jointly" since the spouse would not have drawn any salary?

Topic: EAD for H4 Visa Holders

Currently - L2 visa holders can acquire SSN as well as EAD. When you get EAD, you need to have SSN to work (no?) for tax purposes.

So, Now that H4 visa holders are approved to obtain EAD* (conditions apply), does that mean they will/should get SSN in the process or having SSN is a pre-requisite to get EAD? (Or ITIN is enough?)

Topic: FOIA to get I-140 information

I asked the same question in this forum sometime back and someone replied tat - a soft copy of 797 approval is enough to port PD. I797 is the approval notice which is what everyone needs.

FOIA will provide the actual approved I140 form with approved stamp on it - which may be used in lieu of approval 797 notice. At least that is my understanding.
