Topic: Tax Stimulus: non resident will not get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, simple.. When you become resident for TAX purposes, you pay Social Security... If you are paying Social Security, then you must be a resident for Tax purposes, which means you are elgible for Stimulus.

Resident for Tax purposes is not equivalent to having a Green Card... You might be on an F1 for more than five years, then you are considered a resident for TAX purposes... The rule of thumb again is if you are paying Social Security or not.

Dear Amit Goel (trackitt),

Thank you for this amazing website without which I would have felt lonely during my Green card journey! Keep up the good work.

Topic: What needs to be done after you get the GC?

There is one thing you forgot Raul77, which is the Social Security card... You need to update it and get one that does not state restrictions etc..

In fact, here is a related link:

mikees,

Make sure that you select to "Show all cases" and not "Show active cases only" from the pop up menu on the left!

Topic: What is a "Soft LUD"???

Goblin,

I think a better idea is to have a Wiki page on this forum that all serious users can use and edit to have the best up-to-date information about all this stuf... There are many interesting subjects, and we have many knowledgable users and loosing this information is horrible... Only a wiki page can keep all this stuff together... I hope trackitt considers this.

Topic: RD vs ND vs case#

Receipt date.

"6. Receipt Date on Notice – USCIS has indicated that the date of the receipt notice will be the date USCIS received the application in the mailroom. However, some receipt notices received indicate a later date. Can you please explain why this might be happening? What should an applicant do if there is this error?"

Response: On USCIS’ website it says the agency will honor the actual date that an application was received in the mailroom. These are questions for USCIS and we will post their answers here when we have them. In the meantime, if you have specific examples, please email them to us at cisombudsman.publicaffairs@dhs.gov.

Topic: Finger print

Valid for 15 months. But if FP are done electronically, there is a chance of reuse too.

Here is a DOC about it: (page 4)

ixtab,

Since you are EB2 category, and you are from the Rest of the World. You are already current and nothing to worry about.

Topic: Is job a must for NIW

Well, it is not necessary, although I have submitted a PROPOSED ( not necessarily current ) employment letter at the time based on suggestions from my Lawyer who mentioned that this was a better practice.
