Topic: RFE: Experience Letter

Hi, Kindly share your experiences on how did you respond to this type of RFE.

My RFE specifically asks for the duties & responsibilities outlined in PERM. The letter that was submitted with my I-140 was general in nature. Is it safe for me to ask my previous employer to simply add the specific skills and duties included in the approved PERM? Would it be a problem if the wording be exact (as there is no other way to say it) as the PERM requirements?

Thank you in advance.

Topic: Applying SSN using EAD: Please share your experiences.

Hello, I've been asking around about the wait-time for SSN after application (in person). A friend told me that it took her a month or so to get the card. Another said, about 14 days, and another got it on the same day. Another even suggested to wait a couple of days so DHS can update their system. With varying answers, I would appreciate if you could share your experiences. It would be nice if the number is issued right away and the card to follow.

Thanks!

Topic: Spouse 485 pending for a year now

I just want to share... My friends went through the same thing. They got their 485 approvals 6 months apart. The primary and their child got their GC in April. The dependent (wife) was called in for interview around Oct., and got her approval on the same day of the interview. I think they asked her about details of their marriage. I hope this helps.

I am sorry to hear about your case. As there are no right words to comfort you, I can only say a prayer for you and your family. As others have suggested, take the MTR route. Don't just give up. I am hoping that this is an error. Please update us.

Topic: Major Retrogression on EB3 Philippines

I really appreciate your time answering to my "worries." So relieved when I read your answers! This forum is truly a support group for all GC seekers.

To my fellow countrymen, who will be affected by this retrogression, we will all get to the end of this tunnel. All the years of waiting (been here since 2007, but GC application only materialized last year thru a new employer) taught me that "how long" doesn't matter anymore; what matters is, "we'll get there."

Topic: Major Retrogression on EB3 Philippines

Since we share the same concern, I found an answer from another forum; it says that EAD processing will go on. Trackitt friends, is this also based on your experience?

I saw your profile, you're almost there. Bear in the mind that the effectivity date of the retrogression is May, so yours would still be processed. Keep the faith!

Topic: Major Retrogression on EB3 Philippines

Hi, Filed under EB2 Phils (concurrent) recently. As we now know the unpredictability around the visa bulletins, I am wondering what will happen to I140, EAD, and AP processing when a retrogression occurs to EB2? Will processing be put on hold, too? Thanks! Let us keep on praying for each other that we would all hurdle this! :)

Topic: How long to prepare I-485 forms

In my case, it took 7 weeks from PERM approval to concurrent filing. As soon as your lawyer provide you with the list of documents, work on gathering these ASAP. Call your preferred USCIS doctor right away to book an appointment. While some doctors accommodate walk-ins, we had to wait for another week to be seen. We were able to submit all required documents plus medical within 4 weeks. Reviews, etc, may take another week. The delay was on my I-140 application as the HR person working on my application was swamped with other re-organization workload. Well, the company paid for everything, so I couldn't push for a better turnaround time. Overall, can't complain, I really appreciate all the efforts my company and lawyer (thru a paralegal) put into getting the application ready. I've seen cases here wherein I-140/485 were filed 4-5 weeks after PERM. If you will be paying your lawyer, you can dictate your terms so long as these are reasonable. Good luck!

Topic: Payment information on I-797C

Hi all,
Got the notices from the mail today. I am just wondering why payment information on both I-765, I-131 are $0.00. Is this the way it should? I had the impresssion that once an application is received and the notice is sent that it is in process, the filing fees should also be reflected.

Also, how soon the application via the Receipt Number can be tracked on the USCIS website? Appreciate it if you could share your experiences.

Thanks,

Topic: Do we have to provide tax papers for filling I-485?

Our lawyer just concurrently filed my 140/485 and I was not asked to submit tax documents, only pay stubs over a 3-month period. I hope this helps.

Thanks for your input. Good for you -- that's impressive turnaround time. Mine has been dangling for 6 weeks and have not seen the PERM copy. I didn't know that I need to sign, too.

Topic: Survey: How long from PERM Approval to I-140?

Fellow Trackers,

I am not sure if there's an existing thread on this topic. For sure, we are all here because we want to share our experiences -- from start to GC and beyond (hope you'll still visit and provide answers or advice). It seems that waiting is never ending. From document collection to PWD, recruitment, etc. This thread is created specifically to track and compare the time our employers prepare and submit 1-140. I've seen cases wherein I-140 is submitted within a month after PERM approval. Kudos to those employers who are able to do that in a short time period. For concurrent filers, missing documents for I-485 might cause a delay. Assuming that you did a great job collecting all documents needed for the I-140, so the ball is in your employer's hand via HR. So, the question is, how long did you wait for your I-140 to be filed from the date your labor was certified? Thanks!

Topic: Keeping the green card while working in India

You are not alone. Me and my friends have thoughts of going back to our country and enjoy being just "at home." With the US experience we all have gained, I'm sure that looking for a job won't be hard. BUT, think of reasons why you left your country in the first place. Was it for greener pasture or because you wanted to escape from your country's socio-political and economic conditions? If you could see yourself being happy in spite of your social & political environment, then "home" is good for you. We can only share our insights via this forum; in the end, if you follow your heart, you'd be happy. Good luck.
