Topic: Stimulus package

Amending our 2007 return did not do us any good.

The IRS goes by the ** ORIGNAL ** filling. And we have all the paperwork stating our amendment was accepted.

So if you filed a 2007 return with ANY ITTN dependent and got ANY stimulus payment please post here.

The rule is you should get $0 for 2007.

But maybe next year...

Topic: Is it still worth to have GC then Citizenship? Read on.,

Old monk

I am with you on this one. Tonight my 6 year old daughter read me the story of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too. A fine candle dinner with my wife with a nice Wild Horse 2005 followed... My 4-year old son tells me all about his day playing on the computer with Brother Bear. I can deal with that.

Mind you, I have 0 dollar invested in the stock market....

Topic: Question regarding Employer not paying prevailing wages

"I want to be paid 25% over prevailing wages... "

Or else what??? Leave the company?

If ones goes to a boss and makes this kind of statement one better have a plan B. Prevailing wages aren't the only considerations when it comes to salaries and total benefits.

Topic: Travel to Canada on H1B w/o AP w/ i-485 is pending

After two 3-year H1B terms (6 years), H1B is extended every year and is good for 1 year... that is while I-485 is pending and until it is approved (or denied). I was never asked by my attorneys to "get a stamp" so for me things just happened as I crossed the border. If you are asking about getting a work visa - lets say your company wants you to work in China and what the effect might be on your H1B or I-485 - I have no idea. Better consult with your attorney.

Hi Sehar,

Last time I traveled I did not have AP so I can't tell you what's best... either way you are covered I would think.

Topic: Do you keep green card with you at all times?

Can someone please post an actual case were someone was arrested in the US and asked to provide a GC - on the spot?

When someone is arrested it is almost exclusively while drive a motor vehicle. Then, you have to provide: driver license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance maybe. That's it. Oh perhaps a blood sample too.

Having to prove eligibility for work was required in such well publicized event as http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/13/us/13immig.html but the majority were taken into custody anyway so it would not have mattered if you carried a GC or not...
