Topic: Ques. to those people who have used AP recently

Hi,
I had written about my experienc http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=246991e

I will repeat it here for you.

Hello everyone.
Just wanted to write my experience with travel on AP.
Before I left US: First,I made sure that I will travel through a country that does not require an "air transit visa" (traveled on KLM through Netherlands's) as these countries would like to see a valid stamped visa on passport, which i did not have, i was going to India after five years, so I had an approval but not a stamped visa on passport. Anyway this is good enough, but if i happened to meet some one, who does not understand this, I though it was better to avoid a situation like that then try and explain him/her.
second, I took my approval letter, my EAD and AP along with me.
Back to US: I filled out the I94 on the flight, I94 specifically asks for in which city visa was issued and what is the expiry date. As I did not have a stamped visa, I was not sure what to write, so i asked an air hostesses and she said that usually she saw people writing the latest stamped visa dates on the I94, but she again said that immigration people will help you when you are at the counter. I took her word and filled in my latest stamped visa dates and stood in a line ( for visa holders not PR line) a good lady at the counter looked at my I94, passport and then AP asked me to look at the camera and also took my finger print. She directed me to another counter, this guy looked at my AP and I94, then looked at my passport and matched the passport # on the I94, and stamped on the I94, which states as AOS, (probably adjustment of status) and wrote the issue date and expiry date of my AP on I94, separated the lower portion, which he kept and gave the upper portion along with my passport, he said he needs to take a photocopy of the AP, he came back after few minis and gave me AP with the same stamp that was on my I94. That is it, he said have a nice day, I walked off. It was very easy, he did not ask any questions at all. The reason I took the EAD was, I read it in some of these forums that some times when you show your AP, they would ask to see your EAD too. But this guy never asked me about the EAD, nor did he asked about the visa date. So over all it was a smooth process.
I hope this will be of some use to any of us who are traveling on AP.
good day

Topic: GC filed this year. What would be expected time frame for getting GC given the recent retrogression?

PK64,

I wish I can answer that, your answer is as good as mine, but your question can be answered in a better way if you look at the graphs on this site. I would suggest go through them and come back with a question. It looks as though you are asking me to work for your answer, it is not fair, your application - your hard work.

good luck and merry christmas

Topic: AP doc received. Does it contain 3 copies?

The way it happend to me is, I got two copies, I had both the copies with me when I travelled. At the immigration counter this guy took one of the copy stamped it and said that he would like to take a photo-copy of the stamped copy. He did not ask for the other copy. He came bacl gave the original copy and had the photocopy for himself.
So now I have a stamped AP and a copy which was never used (not stamped).
I never had to make multiple entry, so I dont know if the same AP the one which was used in the first time can be used again for the second time? But it sounds logical that 3 times for 3 APs, but again how does they know only 3 times?

Topic: Why worry about retrogression?

Give up man! This country is good only if you are young and healthy, in any other form it is not such a good place to live. Just feel good that you gave your son what you could not get, that is it. After 20 years, I am sure you will not like this idea of coming to US for GC. You should learn to give up.
Once I asked my friend to teach me swimming, he asked me why do you want to learn now, I said if I fall in to Atlantic while traveling to India I would like to swim to the cost. His answer was "for what?" Yes! for what do you need to swim. he said give up. You lived enough.
My suggestion, during your stay if you get the card, take it. If not don't even bother to add comments on the thread.

good luck

Topic: New Discussion Forums?

I would say
1) One for PRE-SUBMISSION representing all employment categories.
2) One for POST-SUBMISSION discussions they should include (a) FP (b) IO interaction (c) SR and (d) Senator interaction.
3) One for APPROVALS (a) Just to type in that magic words "I am approved". (b) activities that require attention after approval.

that should be enough. Compartmentalization should breed efficiency, but too much of it, it might be a pitfall for lack of proper information transmission.

good day
