Topic: Leaving the United States with a i-485 pending. PLEASE SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS!

I just read the post to the polish girl, and it made me sick. That was a HORRIBLE post and then the comment about Hitler just put it over the top....very very sad.

Topic: First time travel out of US after getting GC

I registered my green card at the check in counter, and they did swipe it. However, at the gate, I also surrendered my last I-94. Its probably not necessary, but I just wanted to be safe. Of course, I kept a color copy of the front and back before the trip....have traveled several times since out of the country for work and not had any problems.

I have never been asked for, or kept a copy of a letter from my employer (although I am still working for my sponsoring company).

Great letter and makes sense. Hope it works!

Topic: Letter to Barack Obama - Appeal for all Indian Immigrants to USA

Jay Dhruv, it is extremely ironic that your letter claims that you and your friends are fluent in English, yet the letter is full or grammatical errors and very poorly written.

Just like every race and ethnicity, there are good and bad, so please get rid of your superiority complex. I could write a book on the negatives to what you have listed, but will refrain.

Finally, if you are going to write a letter to the President or President-Elect, then at least have and educated person proof read it for you.

Topic: Disability? while waiting for I-485

Good luck and take care of your health. I also had a back injury recently from lifting weights...pls make sure you get a second and third opinion. Docs are quick to rush to surgery as the best option, but make sure you have tried everything else. Pain has been excruciating but my physical therapy has been helping. Never thought I would say this, but wish I had taken up yoga so my back would have been more flexible...I wont be able to run any marathon's anymore because of this injury, but at least I avoided surgery. Most often , and depending on your type of injury phsyical therapy works just as well as the surgery, but I am not a doc, so please get a second and third opinion before major surgery like this.

Topic: EB3 India - Is there any hope

RIDICULOUS! What morons claim that the government is discriminating against Indians in this process. This is a link that includes statistics on Adjustment of Status (both employment and family) in the last few years:

http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/statistics/publications/LPR_FR_2007.pdf

India has consistently been in the top 3 of all countries for the past three years that are shown for receiving this benefit. How can you say that India is being discriminated against?????? I am amazed at the sense of entitlement...the H1 visa is a NON IMMIGRANT visa, so to even use that as a parallel makes no sense. Permanent Residency is not a right that is automatic, there are rules and laws around it, so NOBODY is cutting in line!

Do I agree that the process is broken?....Completely. But to call it discrimination....COME ON!

Topic: I94 card correction

I had the same problem...officer wrote L1 instead of H1B. Its actually very easy to get it corrected and I strongly urge you to do whatever you can to correct it so as to avoid problems down the road. I contacted the CPB office closest (sometimes its at the airport). They set up an appointment with an immigration officer from USCIS. Take all your documentation, passport with visa stamp, prior entry on the visa and the wrong I-94. They had to check with Washington DC office, but in about 10 minutes I got it corrected.

Also, make sure you keep a copy of the old I-94 for your record. Ask the officer to notate on the back that the correction was made. Ideally if you can correct it at the same port of entry, it would be best, but its not necessary.

Topic: Lost Indian passport with American H1B Visa

I understand a passport may get stolen, but how the heck do you LOSE your passport????? Especially as immigrants here where we are expected to hold onto every piece of paper from a 15 year old I-20 form to 10 year old I-94 copies...sorry, I just dont get it.
