Topic: Social Security Card

Just wanted to share, that after getting my GC approval 2 months ago, the computer system at SSA was not updated, so I will have to wait for the card when they update the system.

So, if you get your approval wait for at least 3 months to apply for the SS card without restrictions

This is not true. One can go anytime after getting the GC.

Topic: complicated msgs on our case on USCIS website

yes... weirdly even though he has recieved his green card already...he is also getting the same notices as me...got a msg saying his case got transferred to NBC and now his status is also the same as mine.. but we are more concerned what this new msg means? have they decided that we don't need to come for an interview cause it's a simple Employment based case and my husband is the primary .

Sargam:

Reading your other posts, the reason for your interview is because you were in the US earlier on F visa...and you have a criminal record. They would like to know what happened. Just my guess.

goodluck to you!

Topic: I485 RFE

we did realise that our lawyer made an error on the I-485 application in saying that i never had a criminal case. i had one case from 8 yrs ago when i was here as a student on an I 20...but the case was dismissed. we are gathering all info. on the case as well to be safe.

Sargam:

This is why you were transferred to NBC.

Did you submit your I-20 at the time of filing? Did you mention that you were in the US earlier on F visa? And if you ever had a criminal case...dismissed or not....it is always advisable to disclose it. Just my opinion.

Anyways goodluck to you.

Topic: Awaiting the completion of background checks - is anybody in this stage?

Goblin

you can read whatever you want.....but the Background check INCLUDES Name checks. PERIOD

Name check falls under the umbrella called background checks.

Get an inforpass and ask, if in doubt.

Just one more time: background check is a PART of name check. If NC is completed, that means all parts are done: FP, IBIS, BC.

Goblin,

IMHO, name check is part of background check....and NOT the other way around

except for name check, every other check MUST be completed before proceeding further with the adjudication.

Background check includes (among other checks):

- Name check
- IBIS Check
- Biographical check (mentioned on g325a), and, if and when applicable, consulate checks back in your home country.
- Checks with the CIA and FBI (finger prints)

There could be additional checks and reviews conducted on your employer and sometimes on I-140 and LC who knows!!

This is just my guess.....
