why do u need a cover letter, is it explicitly mentioned some where that u need to enclose a cover letter.
Fill the application and enclose the supporting documents. By filling the application itself you are explaining the purpose of ur application. So wots the cover letter used for ??

when did u apply for hsmp ? Did you get your HSMP approval ?
EC as per the new rules will take 30 working days. So once you apply for EC, it will take atleast 45 days.

I have been granted EC recently and I am planning to go to UK in june first week. I have a job offer at hand. Now my gf is doing her MS in USA. I want her to join me as soon as she graduates in month of july. What do you think is the hassle free and the quickest way to apply visa for her.

thanks for all your responses. I went to the vfs office and i was told if i have an offer letter then the maintainence of funds will not be an issue, as long as you have the proof of funds. So i have submitted my case at the vfs bangalore office today.

Hi folks,
I got my hsmp approval in the month of Jan. Till now I was in search of a job and did not apply for the Entry Clearance.
Now finally I managed to get a job in UK. Now the fix is, according to the new rules after april 1, I have to show the maintainence of funds for 3 months to apply for the Entry clearance. If I have to comply with this rule, my hsmp approval validity will be expired and also my joining date with the UK employer is June 12th. So even this way I cannot wait for 3 months.
Please suggest what best can be done in this situation.

Hey folks,
I got my EC stamped, and I thank one and all on this forum who had shared their suggestions.
I need a quick suggestion from you guys..!!
One my frnd who had applied for hsmp and got it approved in the month of Jan 2008, is now ready to apply for ec.
He also managed to get a job in UK recently.
Now the prob is if he has to apply for EC he has to show the funds in his account atleast for a month it seems, according to the new application form and rules. Is there any way we can by pass it by producing the job offer letter and for the funds we can show it as a sponsorship.
