Topic: Current job market trends

Thanks for creating this topic. I am a passive trackitt user. I want to share my experience as I got fired just before Christmas and I have a total of 14 years experience in IT with most of my experience in so called ETL & BI Tools. I had been thinking I am always hot in the job market. but to my surprise I had not got any calls or a couple of calls per day. People will call to confirm the rates and that's it. I had been consoling myself thinking this is holiday time , fiscal year begin etc and the hiring will pick up slowly but you know what it has been 2 months already I hardly had 1 direct Client Interview so far. What I am noticing is Vendors, Consultants call you and get the rates and submit your resume but then you are not being called for interviews.

Companies still do call for FT openings and the minute they knew you are on Elite H1b that's the end of the discussion.

There are companies like google, amazon who still won't discriminate based on visa but you may have to go through a rigorous interview process for one which i did (They will ask you to solve a puzzle, algorithm n data structures, It has been so many years i completed my degree and haven't used any of them in my life so far.. simply put I am not the material)

So my guess is
1. Too many resumes in the market
2. People quote for less money with same skills
3. Out of 10 requirement 9 ask for GC/EAD/USC
4. Locals Preferred
5. Trump Factor

Luckily I have been called back by my previous client for a month project and then it got extended.
But I can say one thing this 2 months brought down all my ego, perseverance, confidence and what not.
I even thought about returning to India and myself and my wife mentally we are prepared to pack our bags anytime.

I even was thinking about buying a home here thinking my contract will be there for ever. Luckily I did not and not planning to anytime soon after this saga.

Frankly I am still trying to figure out whats happening around me.
Thanks for creating this so I could share mine.

I had been checking trackitt posts multiple times even in a minute...expecting some EO action related news...for the past several weeks. been sending emails / faxes etc.

After hearing from Mr. President y'day I realized how these politicians play their game...and I am wasting my precious time and also having unnecessary anxiety. this is dangerous man.

let me get GC when i get it.

I quit trackitt and immigration reform related speculations today...

good bye & good luck to everybody...

8/21/2014: Clarification of Ongoing Consideration of Treament of Immediate Relatives of Principal Beneficiary of Immigrant Petitions in Immigrant Visa Counts

The current law involves Section 203(d) of 8 U.S.C, Immigration & Naturality Act which provides that "A spouse or child as defined in subparagraph (A), (B), (C), or (E)....shall,...be entitled to the same status, and the same order of consideration provided in the respective subsection, if accompanying or following to join, the spouse or parent." As readers can see it, the statute does not specifically require that their immigrant visa numbers should be taken out from the numerical limit of various immigrant petitions. It is the INS and USCIS that have restrictively interpreted this statutory section to require to take out such visa numbers from various immigrant petitions annual national numerical limit. Thus whether or not the spouses and children must take out immigrant visa numbers from the annual quota remains a matter of interpretation. Should the President Obama interprete it different way and revises the rules that will provide that they do not take out from the annual national numerical limitation, it can prevail unless such executive action is challenged in the federal courts, eventually before the U.S. Supreme Court, that his interpretation is wrong.
When we reported this issue, we focused on the employment-based immigration quota system without mentioning other immigrant petitions, such as family-based immigrant petitions, diversity visa immigrant visa petitions, etc. etc. because we were discussing employment-based immigration system. However, the current statute encompasses all types of immigrant petitions and should the President exercise his executive power without limiting it to the employment-based visa petitions, it can cover any types of petitions and family members, which allegedly amount to 800,000. However, whether or not the President would go that far remains a question at this time. We will see whether he will indeed include this new interpretation in the forthcoming executive action and if yes, how far.

Your fax to he Honorable Eric H. Holder, Jr. at 2023076777 did not go through.

This can happen if the receiving fax machine is experiencing technical problems, such as the receiving fax machine has run out of paper or it is offline, or if there are problems with the telephone line, such as busy signal or excessive noise.

Please check the receiver's fax number and try again at a later time. If the problem persists, please contact the recipient to have the problem corrected (such as fax machine out of paper).
