Congrats for you wife EAD!!.
How long does it took for you to receive RFE notice in mail after case status changed to RFE online?

hey, thanks!

between rfe notice online (and via text / email) and actual rfe paper notice, i think it was around 5 days, including a weekend.

finally. my wife's ead was approved today (card was ordered to be produced).

we did receive an rfe (for overexposed photographs). we replied to this last week, and they received the rfe response on monday. today (thursday), case status changed to "your new card was ordered".

:)

hey all. anyone else with an RFE?

if you've received the document asking for more information, would you care to share what USCIS is asking for?

just saw our case status change, and it looks like it's RFE time!

don't know what's going on yet, hopefully this won't slow down overall processing too much.

people who have noticed that cases before/after have been approved but their case has not been approved yet, please let me know if you submitted your application with I140 or AC21.

I have not yet noticed a single AC21 case getting approved as yet. So my guess is AC21 cases will take longer.

Thanks.

I140 here.

That is correct. You don't need to get your SSN card in hand to start working. You will eventually (typically around a month or so) have to inform your employer of your SSN so they can true up your tax withholding and reporting information with the IRS.

In fact, if you don't receive your physical SSN card within a reasonable time frame, you can call the SSA office where you submitted your application and they should be able to tell you the number (I had to do this in 2006, after waiting a couple of weeks or so). I don't think this process has changed much in the meantime, if at all.

I applied with approved i140 and mine is yet to be approved WAC1590368***.

sorta similar here, WAC15903645xx. approved i140, and no update yet. not too worried, though, unless they don't turn this thing around in 90days...

Below are the documents that are mentioned in the USCIS website that USCIS will consider as a proof of Govt ID

 A copy of your last EAD (if any);
 A copy of the biometric page of your passport;
 A birth certificate with photo ID;
A visa issued by a foreign consulate; or
A national identity document with photo.

My question was based on this. It is not about wht you or my self think..its what USCIS accept..I was hoping to get some inputs from folks who got their EID approved..
Thank you for taking time to respond..

correct, and it clearly states that a copy of the passport's biometric page is considered proof of ID. where's the confusion, sir / madam? isn't this clear enough? there's no interpretation here, it's as straightforward as it gets.

Guyz,

I see that one of the required document to submit for H4 EID is a Government Issued document with Photo. Unfortunately, my wife does not have a Adhar Card or DL from India. Would her passport copy be sufficient for this?

Please advise.

Thanks,

V

and who issued her passport? the local shop down the street, or the government of india? why does such a question even arise? please think a bit and the answers will be more than clear.

your passport is a valid identity and assistance document anywhere in the world, and supersedes any other sort of identification issued (unless your country's on a short list of problem places). you're in a foreign country and assuming legality and all that, you should have a passport on you. and that's your government issued document with photo. simple.

and note that you aren't submitting an original; a copy of the passport is all that's needed.

Guys, my application was received on 05/26, and the WAC number starts with 1590368xxxx. Any idea when my ead would be approved?

ours is a WAC1590364xxx, and was received on may 27. no change yet, and i'm not worried at all.

hang in there. a few days won't make a difference. it'll get done soon :)

Quick question - My wife has SSN already ( did Masters in US ), so upon receiving EAD card, does SSN have to be adjusted with new 'status'? Someone told me this, but I find it hard to believe. SSN is not linked with your status, correct?

an SSN does NOT have a status attached with it, under this situation. if she already has an SSN, she doesn't need to go get another one. this one stays with her for life, and there's no "adjustment to status" required.

life will go on as usual, with the exception that she can now put that SSN to good use (other than pay taxes, open accounts, etc., etc., of course).

good luck!

Yesterday i received the receipt # via USPS. This is from USCIS but was like a copy of A4 paper (not like the i-797 thick form)

it's 8x11 or letter paper, not A4. country-specific standards and all that.

and yep, notifications such as these have been on plain paper for the past few years. i think they only use the thick green paper for approval notices?

OKAY so now I can say something :) you make me feel even better.. if this was received on May 22nd then they are processing fast... cause this one got approved really fast... :)

are you sure about that? it looks like you're looking at applications that are NOT h4 ead. the window to start submitting these only opened on may 26, and anything with a received date before then is certainly not going to be h4 ead.

and uscis does approve some ead applications in much less time than 90days. are you sure that this wasn't one based on asylum?

I told you guys yesterday that the cases will move fast and people will get it on or before July 1.

USCIS has put H1b Premium processing on hold and dedicated those resource for EAD approvals.
Many of people wanted the quick approval ( premium processing ) for H4 Ead.

Big thanks to USCIS and Leon Rodriguez , who made this change ( putting H1b premium processing on hold) and processing this H4 EAD at quick pace.

all right, all right, don't rub it in, okay?

:)

but seriously, depvi, congratulations! you're the first in a long line of people who have deserved this for a very long time.

The way cases are moving , i believe people will start receiving EAD from 1st of July or before.

yeah, i don't think so. it's well and good to be hopeful and expect quick turnaround times, but i really don't know where you're getting the "The way cases are moving" statement. as far as i'm aware, nothing extraordinary is taking place about the whole process from a uscis perspective. they receive papers, carry out an initial scan, update a couple databases, send out notifications (e and paper), etc.

there's nothing quicker about this process than the way they usually do business.

i really hope we all get the damn eads soon, of course. we have waited long enough for this largesse to finally come to fruition.

:)

supremacy, any examples of the anecdotal evidence? i'm curious to see the data points that contributed to that sentiment.

hey, a month earlier is good :)
