Topic: I-140 EAD approved by OMB

Is there anyone in the group who had FNU as first name due to no surname in the passport ?
I received my spouse EAD as "No given name" as first name. In her visa and other US documents it is "FNU". Is this a concern to have the first name written in two different ways in documents.

Shall appreciate any advise or personal experience.

Sharing my personal experience.....my wife had the exact same thing...FNU as first name....until she was on H4 it was fine...her VISA was stamped as FNU first name...

Post that , she converted to H1-B and on her very first stamping in India, got administrative processing.
after much wait, she got cleared after 2 months to fly back.

Again after 2 years, when we went to India for another stamping, she was again questioned at visa stamping and again got administrative prcoessing. Again waited for 1.5 months this time, and got clearance.

Fortunately, her passport expired and when we applied for new passport at SFO consulate, we applied with her proper first name and married last name. Lo and Behold, post that we have never encountered any visa stamping issues.

So i would highly suggest getting a new passport for your wife, even if present passport is not expired, and get name changed. Else you gonna have issues with employers as well as stampings.
Just my advice from first hand experience with FNU shit

The approval date is from July 31st.....which is the date when he case got approved....and is valid until Oct 2018...which is the latest H4 validity date

I need to also state that my wife was on H1-B since last 6 years until January this year when she converted to H4.

Thanks.

We applied our extensions in regular processing on June 15th
This was converted to premium on July 18th
We got the approvals on July 22nd

I would strongly suggest converting to premium and things will move super fast on both extension and EAD front

If you are making up your resume and faking experience, rejection should not hurt

If the info that you put in your resume is genuine no need to get panicked...you will definitely get the job you deserve
Keep trying

Update on our case....we got approval on July 31st and received the approval notice in mail today.
received date: May 27th 2015
Approval date: July 31st 2015
Approval Notice received: Aug 7th 2015

Interesting stuff: Our H4 when we applied our EAD, was valid only until Oct 31st 2015. So our EAD would be vald until Oct 2015 only.

2 weeks later after EAD filing, we filed for our H1 and H4 3-year extensions based on I-140. We got the 3 year extensions approved on July 22nd.
Now we were confused if we need to apply another EAD extension based on new H4 extension.....but decided to wait until we saw the approval notice.
Lo and behold....today we got the EAD approval notice in mail, and he EAD was approved until oct 2018.....

The data in the USCIS database is tied and hence they approved the EAD until our new H4 extension date....which is quite amazing.

Good luck to everyone in their EAD journeys.

Latest on my wife's case:
Receipt number: WAC15903633XX

Case received: May 27th 2015
Case approved: July 31st 2015

Surprisingly, the first status on July 31st said - "New Card is being produced"
Then at end of day, it said " Case Approved"

This still shows as "Case Approved" as of today

Important AND interesting to note is that my wife's H4 and my H1 extension was also filed in parallel (not in conjunction with the I-765 application) and we received the 3 year extension approvals for both h1 and h4 until 2018 on July 22nd 2015. I have an approved I-140.

Just as I was going to send a mail to USCIS to extend my wife's EAD to 2018 along with extension proofs - based on my talk with USCIS customer care, i saw an updated status of our EAD application as Approved and new Card is being produced on July 31st. Hence i decided to wait until i see the EAD expiration date.

We are hoping that the EAD card we get now is until 2018 - since ideally USCIS should have record of my wife's recent H4 extension, as opposed to just until Nov 2015, and if not, i am going to send another application to extend EAD until 2018.
Keeping fingers tight.

Good Luck to all.

Yes ours is.

My wife's EAD was applied on May 26th, Received date May 27th. Case showing "received" till date.

My current H1-B is valid until Oct 31st....and i have approved I-140

Now my H1-B extension was filed on June 8th along with my wife's H4 extension. Since no premium is there right now, its still showing "received" status.

Our strategy was to get an EAD by July end, and start working, and then as soon as we get h1-B and H4 extended for another 3 years, file an EAD extension in August and get the EAD extended for 3 years .

But so far, the situation looks grim coz of the slow movement from USCIS.

Whats your exact situation?

Thanks.

The best thing is to check your bank account if the check is en-cashed or not.

My application reached May 27th 9:00 Am , and check was en-cashed May 29th. I did not send any G-145 form.

The speeds can be random so be patient.

Really? :)

You need to look up the instructions to see what address you need to send the packet to.

Black and white - oh yes....good old b&w copies are absolutely fine.

No worries man. writing name and I-94 was good to have but not a stringent requirement. Do you think they will issue you an RFE for that?
No way.

Relax and wait for your EAD now.

as long as the PERM is there, it doesnt matter whether its approved or in Balca.

You can even go with the approved I-140 if you have the copy handy.

Totally your call. If you suspect your PERM to get rejected by August 26th, you should go with I-140.
Else plain and simple AC-21.

Both should get you the EAD.

good Luck

I think you should be totally fine using the AC21 to prove you got an approved PERM and H1 extended in 8th year.
Read up the I-765 instructions and it totally gives you an option to do that.

Once they issue you a receipt number, you can try sending the pictures proactively citing the receipt number.
Or email USCIS for options.
