hiya.. not quite the same but I will share what happened with mine just in case it is relevant.

About 4 weeks later it changed to saying they had sent out a mailing.. the mailing told me that I was accepted and that I had to wait to hear from my local office. I was paranoid and thought that would take forever, but I got a mailing from the local office the next day and went in to land. Apparently though, if they require an interview it happens during the "decision made" stage of the process, so be prepared for that eventuality also.

Good luck, I hope you hear from them soon!

ECAS changed today.. which is odd being a Thursday.. but stranger things have happened. The title is what it says now, yet it doesn't say they have sent anything out like it did when I got AIP. Has anyone ever had this message?? If so how did they contact you and how long did it take?? I'm so nervous and excited!

Topic: 2 Questions about sponsoring spouse

K I found it.. man the CIC site is difficult to navigate sometimes *-|

Turns out I have purged my paperwork somewhat and didn't have the reference written anymore.

BUT

I went to Spouse out of Canada and linked to general information on sponsorship. From there if you click on Tables and Charts you get to this link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900E10.asp which sets it out. In the header it refers to grandparents and all that, but I did link there directly from the Spouse section. I wonder if maybe you are exempt too.. it would be worth phoning the embassy to ask if there are any concerns but hopefully you are right and he makes enough :)

Topic: 2 Questions about sponsoring spouse

Hiya, Yes they do a criminal check, just a basic one. Are you legally married and living with him in Canada? If so then he automatically qualifies as your sponsor. I was SO relieved when a call centre agent told me that because my hubby is on insurance and I make more than he does. Fortunately it's not an issue. If that is not the case you can get the information from a certain form which I can't remember the reference for.... I have it written down somewhere so I will look for it tonight for you. I really hope that you are exempt from the requirement like me though because it's just wonderful not to have that extra worry! Good luck.

Topic: Document Request

Hi,
I had to send in additional documents - just to confirm where I had been living and working since the date on which I sent in my application. I sent the documents back right away, but because of the amount of documents being received on a daily basis it was not officially received until Feb after being sent in Dec. They had already approved me in principal at this point, however that would vary from case to case depending on what is missing. In some cases they may postpone the initial review until after the additional information has been received.
