Hope that helps.

For the response time from Consulate, there are two aspects to it. I notice it with my experience and sharing.

- The email goes to the customer support or front desk office. If the officer has answer available in the system like whether medical has been received and recorded in system etc, the response will come in 3-4 days.
- If the front end officer does not see the information in system. Officer needs to send information to Visa officer handling case and wait for reply. It might take 2-3 weeks.
- I have done all the correspondence through email. After sending any document, I inquired through email for confirmation and provided the tracking # etc. In my case, I got replied to all my emails. Once I got reply that Consulate can not tell me when to submit passport. But when passports will be required, it will be noticed by mail.

Hope this helps.

To Deme,
Every case is treated differently by respective consulate. I heard that now a day, Consulates are asking Medical to be sent to respective consulate. The DHP will ask few more dollars to send your med to India rather than Canada.

One thing to note: It does not matter that you are sending your passports through your wife or father or mother or anyone else (i believe you will give to trustworthy person only), if it is illegal, it is illegal. Also, pls give one tip to who ever carry the passports that they needs to have some 100 dollars bill handy if someone object in your home country.

I have mentioned couple of times before but repeating again since I know the situation you and all other might be going through. If you and your family can go to India for stamping, there is nothing better than that. But it is not always feasible monetary and otherwise. If not, then sending by someone (not necessarily wife) with authority letter should be fine. Sending by mail should be last option but you dont want to lose the visa because you could not send passports.

Hope this will help and best of luck.

Thanks and all the very best, Vik. I am sure your visa is coming shortly so if you are not in hurry, you can decide till 30-Mar-2011 (one year from Medical).

To Vik,
About the time, Consulate will ask the passports after they have got your medical result and are ready to stamp the visa. In my case, Delhi consulate sent the passports back with visa on 6th day. So ideally, it should not be long. Hope this helps.

It was typo. Was doing multitasking along with office work.

"I sent the authority letters and he brought passports (3 passports in total for my entire family) without any issue". Below is the format that I gave:

Authorization Letter

I ‘________________’ citizen of India with passport # ______ (New) / ______ (Old) residing at ___________________ and Canadian immigration case file # _______ is authorizing Mr. ____________ citizen of India with passport # _______, D.O.B. as “__________” to carry my passport and submit / collect passport and other related documents to / from Canadian Consulate [7/8 Shantipath, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021] on my behalf.

Thank You,

To All,

Just to update all, I asked my friend to bring my passports from India. I sent the authority letters and he brought it from any issue. I would suggest the same to you if you can not go to India or home country for stamping due to any specific reason. if you read my earlier post, I went through all the trouble when I mailed my passports (which is also not legal as mentioned in passports).

Hope this help

Topic: PREGNANT WHILE MEDICAL

To Rabzee and all,
You can do X-Ray while you or your wife is pregnant. We asked our gynecological doctor and she approved to do x-ray. The lab required a written letter from doctor so we got the letter stating that X-ray can be done. My wife was 6 months pregnant.
We repeatedly asked our doctor about X-ray since we heard all kind of news that it can harm baby. The answer was if you do 1001-th X-ray, it MIGHT harm baby.
You can ask your doctor. (We are in US.)Hope this helps.

To deme7683,
Congrats on getting on to next step. Now, looks like you are in same boat officially to send the passports. Following option as applicable:

1. Go to India if you can manage 3-4 weeks off. Usually, they send very fast back. I got my passport back in 6 days after delivery confirmation. May be the security person was ready with stamp.
2. Send with someone with authority letter

hope this helps.

Hi deme7683,
Please evaluate all your options first before sending the passports.

1. if you don't find anyone taking your passport(s) and you can not go, you have to send with mail.
2. No courier/post company will accept your package if you state it is passport(s). So, you have to write as "Immigration Papers" while declaring.
3. PLS DON'T USE USPS AS STATED IN MY LAST POST.
4. Use FedEx/UPS and pray that it will not stuck in custom. if they do, be ready with someone running after your passport in India and be ready to get duplicate passport here. Consulate will give you time extension if you tell them the passports are lost in mail.

I am giving to all +ve, -ve points since you to consider all before deciding. When My application was processing, i was of view, no matter what I will travel myself to get visa stamp. But when I get Passport request, i could not due to baby (Wife can not go) and H1B extension was pending.

Hope this helps.

To deme7683 and Singh111 and all other going through this confusing, shocking state,

I don't think sending the passports by someone is illegal. Please read the second last page of passports with all declaration and warning from Indian govt. Snippet below:

"THIS PASSPORT SHOULD NOT BE SENT OUT OF ANY COUNTRY BY POST. THIS SHOULD BE IN THE CUSTODY EITHER OF HOLDER OR A PERSON AUTHORIZED BY HOLDER. "

Do you guys still think it is illegal? I don't think so.

Topic: How to send Passports to India for Visa Stamping.

Hi All,
I went through same situation. I am in USA and Delhi consulate asked for passport for visa stamping. I could not go because my H1 extension approval was pending. I sent my passport by USPS with 5-7 days tracking. My passport was not delivered for 30 days. You could imagine that i went through hell for those many days.
I started the process to make passport for whole family again. I notified consulate that I sent passport and they are lost in transit and asked for more time since my 30 days time limit passed. I did one last option of finding someone inside international post office and custom person and some how tracked it. Based upon my experience, i will STRONGLY recommend you following:

- Send the passports by hand with authorization letter since it is considered legal. I am trying this option to get my passport back. This might be tricky since ppl dont want to be in trouble even with authorization letter. Only very close person will take this.
- If you are sending by post. DON'T USE USPS. Their service S***S. They can not track after package united states and rely on the other countries updates (daily sync job). With Indian Post office, there is no guarantee. USPS will not be able to help if package is lost and will raise a case to track it with no time line to respond back to you.
FEDEX, UPS can track all the way to personal address but not to PO BOX address of consulate so send by FEDEX, UPS to your family in India and ask them to forward to consulate. Consulate will send back to Indian address mentioned on your file.
- Go personally to home country to get it stamp. Which is not really possible all the time. I always thought that I would go at any cost if I get passport request. But when I got passport request, my H1B visa extension was pending and having a 4 months old baby. Not always feasible :)

Hope this helps.

Topic: AINP file send to Delhi office

@Jeevan,
You dont need to submit original educational certificates. They are your property and you need to keep them safe. Consulate ask for xerox copies and if translated, you need to get them notarized. Thats it. Hope this helps.

Topic: AINP file send to Delhi office

I contact delhi consulate and they said that they have sent the medical request on May 21, 2009. I have not received the medical request. I have requested them to send it again. I sent the email, fax and planing to send the mail today to re-send the medical forms.
I am wondering if someone has gone through similar experience. Does CIC listen to my request and send me the medical forms again?

@chucky0101,
Are you waiting communication from Alberta? If you have sent the file to CIC, then now they would be handling the case. Looking at your timelines, you should be getting the medical request soon. Your cosulate is Buffalo, right?

@blestcheche,
You should be getting the medical request with AOR soon. BTW, which consulate you have sent the file? I think it should be Buffalo, right?
