I filed for the AP renewal on August 25th and on Sept 10th or thereabouts, I called CIS and asked for an expited request to my AP. I didnt think I gave them a really credible reason for expediting my case, but it got approved and very quickly too ! |

Topic: Chennai VFS folks and/or Chennai US consulate are annoying !!
I had a H1b visa appointment last month in Chennai and the interview went smooth, concluding in the officer telling me that my visa has been approved. The next day I find out that they send back my passport along with a 'blue' form asking me for a new photograph - the original one did not meet their requirements as the background wasnt appropriate !! This was the exact same photo I've been using for all USCIS documents - when the CIS had no issues with it, why is the Chennai consulate making such a big deal !!!
I resubmit a new photo along with new forms as per the 'blue' form. They send these documents back saying that the form that has to be used was from a different website. There was no mention of this website when they send back my passport the first time !!
On top of that, the VFS office has all these unwritten BS about how the passport gets submitted to the consulate if the docs are submitted before 11am and that, if the forms are submitted after 11am, they go the consulate only the next day ! There is no such mention of all these rules on their website.
It's been a frustrating experience for a very simple application and VFS Chennai and the consulate there are pathetic and inefficient !! |
Topic: Linking the EB dates
I am in the same boat - two LCs, two I-140s, both approved (EB3 PD = Jan 9 2003, EB2 PD = June 6, 2005). My lawyer did request for interfiling (or whatever the official name is) when the 2nd I-140 was filed and, more recently, he's been sending monthly 'reminders' to the CIS 'educating them' about the concept of interfiling.
To date, I could not confirm which PD they are using or which category I am being considered under (Eb2/Eb3). I followed ms665's route a couple of weeks ago when I got to talk to a 'good' IO but he couldnt really tell me which I-140 was being considered and that he in fact does not have access to that information. He did start a SR but Im sure that disappeared into space.
So maybe it's time to call the customer service line again.
Thanks. |
Topic: EB2/India/NSC no approval recently?
I find this hard to believe. This is in complete contradiction to the Sept 08 visa bulletin with PDs for EB2 India and China extended to Aug 2006 !
While it is entirely possible that the DOS wrongly estimated the demand for visa numbers for Sept, the chances of them not taking into account the extreme demand from these two areas of chargeability are low !
In my opinion, it's just that there have been approvals that have not been reported on trackitt - hope I am right :( |
Topic: SR Reply letter
I got a reply to my SR too about 3 weeks ago (for a SR that I opened early June). It said that "the case is within normal processing times and that it's taking a lot of time to process these cases. Please be patient" - gee, patient huh? OK !!
So it was as useless as message as yours ! |
Topic: Infopass appointment in two days..
Depends on where your INFOPASS appt is. I've gone for 2 such appts at Detroit's USCIS field office and it was absolutely worthless.
On the other hand, I've read some profiles where their appts were with some helpful immigration officers who actually gave them details of when their background check was cleared etc. One of them was at Philly I believe.
Good luck. |
