Unlike many other countries on the world, US has no exit control.

that's so that illegals don't feel nervous about exiting, should they ever feel homesick :)

Palguy, MrVulcan, Slovacisco ... all these familiar names remind me of the dark ages before my GC. when the misery of my old job forced me into a trackitt frenzy. i sort of miss you guys.

I see there are many responses above to this question, but this question is probably intended as a joke. It must be.

no, i wasn't joking. i just wasn't sure what is needed, in terms of paperwork.

but the app didn't say that, granted the UI of the form was as crappy as can be. why are the europeans not as usability oriented as the americans ?

Topic: H1-B Morden Slavery in America

i just got my green card a few weeks ago and don't feel all that liberated. i still have to work, not to keep my status but to pay my bills. dire necessities just keep succeeding one another. switching jobs is not that much of an issue since there aren't that many in this economy. only the means of enslavement are different. i won't say that it's not ANY better, of course it is but it's certainly not be all end all.

ironically, rennie, i am currently contemplating a move to BC. which would entail you all's variant of the process i just completed, though i know it'd be much easier.

Topic: LRIndy, Question for AC21

While I agree (from *my* reading of the statute - IANAL) that one is not required to send this notice; I always try to operate under the principle of common courtesy, and as such, I think it would be rude not to inform USCIS, of this significant event.

I changed employers, primarily due to the fact, that my new employer offered me the chance to spend more time with my family (geographical arrangement), but my new position is identical to my prior job, both in duties and compensation (i.e. it is textbook AC21).

rennie, i was in an identical situation, not just with respect to job duties and submitting the paperwork but also the geographical considerations. i also "try to operate under the principle of common courtesy". are you my long lost brother ?

on a serious note, my GC was approved 3 weeks ago and about 2.5 months after the AC21 submission. i would tell everyone to do it. while it seems naive, honesty and candor works out better in the long run and i believe that USCIS is really not some evil machinery that's out to get you. if you fill your paperwork nice and clean, it'll make their lives easier and i think they appreciate it. if you fudge stuff up, it'll come to surface. 99% of the time, honesty pays.
