Topic: Finger printing for Kids

Our Attorney had us include checks for $70 each (Biometric fees) for both our kids (6 & 13 years).

The checks have neither been cashed nor returned to us by USCIS.

There have been no notices for any Biometric appointments for the kids so far.

Topic: LUD on already approved I-140

I had a soft LUD on approved I-140 (AD: 09/08/2007) on 01/06/2008 (Sunday) .

My namecheck was cleared on 11/14/2007.

But, my PD is Aug 2006 (EB3 India).

Don't know if its worth hoping against hope!!!

Anyways good luck to all who got I-485's approved after LUD's.

Topic: Social Security tax, if one leaves without a GC

The question is:

By the time many (not all) of the immigrants in the age group of 25-40 are expected to attain the eligible age for SS benefits, the SSA will be Bankrupt (as per present estimates).

So I am not going to worry much at this time unless there is a dramatic reversal in the fortunes of the SSA.

Topic: Time between Name check clearance and green card approval

I have always called between 9:30 AM -1:30 PM PST. I have never asked what level the person was. But, if I was a brtting person, I would say that I got IO or a person of 2nd level. There is no way one can get such detaied answers from customer service reps.

This morning I waited around 46 minutes but did not get thru. Then later, I had to wait 22 minutes before I got the person online. So, I guess patience is the key! Even now, after all the good news, I still have to be patient for years to come (maybe not, hopefully)!

Topic: Time between Name check clearance and green card approval

My experience is that when I called on 11/06 to check the status of FBI name check for one of us (as both has different filing dates and differnt FP dates), I was told that the name check process has not yet started as of 11/06 and we should call back only 2-3 days after the FP is done. So, FP was completed on the morning of 11/09 and there was an LUD on the case (11/11). I called again and was told that I should call in the next few days, there will be two possible answers for me, i.e. either it is still pending or is completed. I saw there was another LUD on 11/13 and called today. I was told name check is completed.

The other case, FP was completed sometime ago and I was getting the reply, 'in process/pending) but whe I checked that case today, I found that it too was returned frrom the FBI as 'cleared today)!

But, the long wait ahead, Alas!

I have been lucky getting info on the phone. Just kept trying and got good people on the other side answering my queries.

Both our (Principal & Derivative) FBI name/security checks were completed yesterday & today. I am hoping we do not get stuck too long in the line waiting for our PD (Aug 2006) and they ask for another FBI name check, especially if we remain in the line too long!
