Topic: Will Buffalo office reject my application without IELTS, or request IELTS results?

They requested that I take IELTS. I did not. They continued to process my case however. If I was to do this all over again, I would take IELTS. And the reason being is that they give you 4 months to take IELTS. Meaning, the processing of your file will be delayed for 4 months. Then, if they do not receive a score, they will give you points as much as the officer thinks you should get. That may be less or more than what your IELTS score would have been if you had taken it. Good luck,

Topic: Spouse traveling

My first medical exams were done in the US. They expire today. Most likely we'll get new medical forms. I am the primary applicant residing in the US. My wife wants to travel visit her home country. If we receive new medical forms, can she get hers done at a different country other than US? Would that raise any questions?
Has any one done this before?
Thank you

Topic: Refugee/Asylee

Yes, you need to show your status when you submit your application.
I applied Feb 2007. My wife was pregnant when they send me the medical forms, so that delayed a bit my application. Also, I had a discrepancy on my english proficiency claim (letter for english proficiency I wrote) with the englich proficiency on the application. So, they gave the oppurtunity to take EILTS, but I did not. So, that delayed my application for 4 months. Now I am waiting for background check. I hope this helps.

Topic: Refugee/Asylee

I applied myself. I dont think you need a lawyer unless your case is complicated(criminal charges). I did not need an interview. Wrote a letter explaining my english and that was it. Good luck.

Topic: Refugee/Asylee

Well, I am an asylee in the US and I applied for skilled worker PR and they accepted my application. I am stuck on BC but passed initial assessment and did not need to take EILTS. Hope this helps.

Topic: Refugee/Asylee

Do you mean if you were an asylee/refugee can you apply for Skilled worker PR? If so, then yes you can apply. But you have to show that you have lived legally in the country where you are applying from for at least a year.

Topic: Is RCMP name check considered background check

Yes, I was wondering about rcmp (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) name checks. Anyone knows about it? Is it background check or something else? Thanks

Topic: How long are police/FBI clearances good for?

I am still in the US. No, CIC did not ask for any updated documents. I wanted to get FBI clearance again if they expire (don't know if they expire) since it takes 2-3 months to receive from FBI>

Topic: How long are police/FBI clearances good for?

I sent the police/FBI clearances with my original application in 2007, more than a year. My file is stuck on background check. I wanted to know if the police/FBI clearances expire?
Do you suggest I have them done again if they expire?
Thanks,
