Topic: CANADIAN PR Just came in......... any risk involved

Since you have H1B stamp and not AP, I don't think I/O at POE cares about the canadian PR, to him you are a non-immigrant worker, as long as you have a valid visa and some paystubs to prove you still work for the sponsoring company you are cool. He/she does not know you filed an I-140 unless you tell him/her.

So GC could be a good excuse to get you out of the arranged marriage, tell your family you can't get married until you are a US citizen, and stay with your girlfriend!!

GotGCButHow,

what the hell r u going to INS office for? You got your GC, just be happy!! USCIS system is a zoo, you being approved is NOT your fault, just your good fortune!! There was nothing against the law in this matter, it is a USCIS internal issue, they don't have a good FIFO system, so some people wait 10 years and others wait 1 year!! Don't waste your time with this and move on with your life.

As far as the marriage goes, do whatever makes you happy. If you do the arranged marriage in India, it may take you a while to bring your wife here since you have your GC, unless she comes on a non-immigrant visa (F1, etc).
