Topic: I-140 Aproved now what?

just i-140 ... u should be able to get a EAD with i-140 application as it is a indication that u r on the way to permanent residence..infact i am quite sure that u are eligible to apply for EAD and AP(advance parole) for travel...

Topic: RFE on Approved I-140

I would not worry.. obviously they had approved it based on the merit of the case.. they might just need to verify a little info or something.. i would not worry about it.. as clearly ur case has the merit to get apprroved

EAD is Employement Authorization Document... lets you work anywhere just like a Green card but you have to renew it based on your pending i-485 or Adjustment of status application(sometimes everyyear and sometimes every 2 years)..
I highly recommend you to apply for EAD for you wife.. She can get Social Security based on it. I am not sure if your daughter can get it.. but logically she is a beneficiary of Your Adjustment of Status application and she should be able to get it.
Homestead comes after you have Green card ( or perhaps Citizenship)
Do you know if you filed a concurrent case that is i-140 and i-485 during the july august fiasco from last year when they had opened up visa numbers ?

Topic: When should AC21 be invoked when I-140 is pending and have to change employer

You can use it as long as the current employer is willing to keep your i-140 going and will help u if there is RFE....

Topic: When should AC21 be invoked when I-140 is pending and have to change employer

I had a long discussion with my Lawer a few months ago before i got my i-140 approved and she said... that its very well documented that ac21 works fine after the approval but not very clear as to if it can work without i-140 approval...so with a Pending i-140 ... you might be able to invoke it but no one is 100% sure of the end result...

Topic: I140 Approval and change of employer!

this whole portability (AC21) works if you have i-485 Pending for more than 180 days.. if you dont have it then you will lose the approved i-140 PD

Topic: Do i need Visa to U.S. Virgin Islands?

me and wife had our first anniv (june 2008) vacation in Puerto Rico and USVI (St. JOhn) and we took our passports and eveything but hardly needed them ... they dont take out ur i-94 or anything and on flight back... i did show them my h1b extension and that was it... hey just check for the legal docs.. and nothing else.

Topic: H4 for Parents

h4 is for spouse and kids and not for parents.. but your mother should be able to get a b1 visa (visitor's visa) u will need to setup her interview separately in the system perhaps on the same day ...

just a correction... last year it was that you could pick up the passport the next day and not the same day.. I am unsure if it has changed to the same day.. so you may wanna check it online...

They usually courier it back to you but if you tell the consulate that you would like to pick it up the next day.. these passport go to a embassy courier place where you can show your receipt and pick the passport the next day...
My wife did it last year

Topic: Please help....GC process revoked

Ac21- has nothing to do with i-140 and is based on 180 days of pending i-485 ... yes approved i-140 makes it a more solid case from portability's prespective.. Good luck but i think u should file i-485 ASAP and u dont need a visa number availability to file it.. as long as its pending with USCIS for 180 days.... you can port using AC21
