Topic: Greened - CPO - Travel Coming up

I think I'd book an infopass appointment just in case, but wait a few days and see if the card comes in the mail. Mine arrived exactly 1 week after I was approved, and 4 days after the CPO email. Either way, congratulations!

Topic: visa wait time

Just be aware with the new verification requirements, it can take longer. A co-worker from England was stuck in Ottawa for a week last summer trying to get her H1B stamp. So hope for the next day, but know it could take longer. Every day she'd be told sorry, not today, hopefully tomorrow, come back at 3pm.

Topic: Visiting Maui, HI on an expired visa

Ah, but Puerto Rico is not a state. So yes, there is an immigration check when coming back. But Hawaii is a state. And that makes it an interstate flight, for which you only need a driver's license. (Although it's good to remember that the law requires that we all carry our immigration papers at any time with us, so they can ask for them at any point.)

As a quick word of advice, bring your passport if you wish, but use your driver's license at the airport when they ask for ID. That way the situation of the expired visa never comes up and you've not done anything wrong. A driver's license is all you need to board a flight within the US.
But most importantly, enjoy the trip!

Topic: Passport Stamping After Green Card obtained

Hi! Because you've received the Greencards themselves, you don't need to get anything stamped in your passport. Just make sure you have the cards themselves (and your passport) when you come back. And you get to use the citizen and LPR line, which moves much faster! Congratulations!

Topic: Canadian Birth Certificate

They are going to want the long one with your parents name listed on it. I would order it now, it takes a longish amount of time if you are outside of Canada.

I think it must depend on what province/territory you were born in. From Ontario mine took less that two weeks! :) Now, my marriage certificate on the other hand... we ended up having my mother in law go to the church to get one there it was less hassle/time!

Topic: Canadian Birth Certificate

I can't say as to receiving it with the small BC (I submitted the long) but it was really fast, cheap and easy to order them from Ontario. I don't know which province/territory you are from, but you should probably order one now to be prepared for the RFE. The I-485 is pretty specific about wanting the long form one.

Topic: EAD CPO IS IT GOOD OR BAD

Does EAD production relate any how with the approval time of I485.

Absolutely not! My husband and I received our EAD approvals less than one week before our I-485 approvals! :)
Hang in there.

Topic: Travel before Green Card arrival

Congratulations from a fellow Canadian! You actually will most likely have the cards in hand well before your trip. We had ours one week to the day after we received the approval email and 4 days after we got the Card Production ordered email. If you do want to try to get your passports stamped, though, book your Infopass ASAP. Once your card has been ordered, it can be very hard to get the stamp, some local offices won't do it at all. You can read about my experience two weeks ago here:
http://www.trackitt.com/discussion-forums/i485-1/140904105/

In any case, each person who needs a passport stamp will have to go for the appointment. They will not stamp for people who are not present (a coworker tried to do this). You'll need to take ID, your approval notices (if you have them), your receipt notices if you don't have the approval notices and the passports.

Good luck and congratulations!
