Topic: Do we need to return license plates if we register car in another state?

of course this is not true in most states. most states require you to return the plates when you move out of the state and register somewhere else. i don't know how NJ DMV does it but certainly you should look into it. what happens if you don't, that's a different matter. i don't think there is much they can do in terms of punishment.

Topic: different status of approval

hesc - On your welcome notice, does it say that you should receive your physical card within the number of days?

i actually did not receive any notice yet, i am going by what it said on the online status. this is what it said (i saved a pdf file):

Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On October 24, 2008, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new
permanent resident status. Please follow any instructions on the notice. Your new permanent
resident card should be mailed within 60 days following this registration or after you complete any
ADIT processing referred to in the welcome notice, whichever is later. If you move before you get
your new card call customer service. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we
process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

Topic: different status of approval

thanks. i read through it and it explains the difference but it seems there should be no reason to get both, which is what happened to me and my wife. anyway, i guess i'll just have to wait and see what happens. i have set up infopass for 11/07/08 so we can get our passport stamped, and then i don't really care whatever happens as long as i can get through the immigration at the airport without any hassle.

Topic: 70 Days after Approval and Still no green card

avi - Now for both "welcome notice " and "approval notice" , both of them are from I797 right? And then in the section " Notice Type", does it spell out "approval notice"? I know for the fact that for welcome notice, it does say "Welcome Notice" under "Notice Type" section and then down below it says..Welcome to the United states, congratulations..etc. I'm just trying to understand if there's a technical difference between "Approval Notice" vs. "Welcome notice" such that they're not exactly the same ie. Approval Notice is that you got approved but USCIS still need something from you vs. Welcome Notice is everything is completed and just wait for the card.

I think I am getting both "welcome notice" and "approval notice". on 10/24/08, both my and my wife's status changed to "welcome notice sent". it said i should expect card within sixty days. today 10/29/08, the status changed to "approval notice sent".

any idea why i am getting both? thanks in advance.

Topic: different status of approval

on 10/24/08, my status online changed to: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident. so i was waiting for the notice in the mailbox ever since. on 10/29/08, the status changed to: Approval notice sent.

what do you think are the difference between these two status?

Topic: response to RFE logged in a very short time

i don't want to get my hopes up, but there is soft LUD on i485 today. i hope this means someone is looking at my file (and just maybe that an approval is coming shortly! :)

so after the hard LUD on 9/10, soft LUDs on 9/11, 9/15, 9/16 and today again 9/17 (strangely, throughout our application, my (primary) and my wife's case moved the same: LUDs will be reflected on both cases, RFE notices update the same, etc. but the last two soft LUDs have been on my case only, not my wife's. i am really hoping i get the green cris email some time soon.

Topic: response to RFE logged in a very short time

So my lawyer submitted a response to RFE, delivered and signed today at 11:10am (NSC time) and at 1:14pm (NSC time) I got a CRIS email stating that they received and case processing has resumed. Pretty darn fast, i'd say! let's just hope the approval will be just as quick! :)

fyi, RFE was for passport bio page and driver's license copy, for both primary and secondary; very simple.
