Topic: resources on citizenship (post greencard)
Hi all,
I would appreciate if you could direct me to a few good resources on preparing for citizenship application. I had recently received my (employment-based) greencard after much delay and I don't want to repeat the same mistake of not being prepared for citizenship process in advance.
Thanks |
Topic: Do i need Visa to U.S. Virgin Islands?
travelling withing 50 states is different from travelling to commonwealth PR or USVI. |
Topic: Help!!! I485 with Multiple I140s
if your i485 still shows as pending (on uscis website) then logically it must be associated with approved i140 (at least). similarly, if you renewed your ead after first i140 was rejected, that is also a proof that your i485 is pending, and hence associated with 2nd i140. btw, you shoudl verify that asap since if, by chance, your i485 was aligned only with your first i140, then your ead may have been invalidated after its rejection. |
Topic: Do i need Visa to U.S. Virgin Islands?
DoItLegally is right. There is a custom inspection of entry documents (H1B, AP, OPT+I20 etc). Though, can't say if expired H1B with approval notice will be sufficient. |
Topic: Got greened today after 9 1/2 years
9.5 yrs. you are a patient man:) Enjoy... |
Topic: multiple RFE on 485?
i received 2 RFEs. 1st one in Mar for EVL and TB Skin test, then again in July for EVL (asking for pretty much the same stuff as 1st one) and incomplete 693 form (USCIS surgeon had forgotten to ensure requisite signatures on the form). Thankfully, there wasn't a 3rd one... |
Topic: tb positive but chest x ray is negative
It depends upon the size of your ski test PDD results, as follows:
If PPD positive AND x-ray positive
Undergo treatment
elseIf PPD less than 5 mm AND x-ray negative
Do nothing (send results to USCIS, even x-ray may be waived by doctor)
elseIf PPD greater than 5 mm but less than 10 mm AND x-ray negative
Do nothing (send results to USCIS)
else PPD greater than 10 mm AND x-ray negative
Referred to (most probably) a county clinic to undergo treatment (optional, you can deny without repurcusions, I believe)

Topic: Contacting congressman and/ or senator for help, which one is better?
in my experience, house representative. my senator (NY) claimed immigration is a federal issue and his office is unable to help. no hard and fast rule but my representative's office, on other hand, was extremely helpful and cooperative. |
Topic: EB1 approvals from NSC?
I received my approval on Aug 20. Please see my profile for detailed timeline. |
Topic: Mixed feeling
actually, its more open, transparent, and fair in education and employment than immigration. you didn't hear me complaining about those two, did you?:) i don't even like the term 'complaining' since that gets us only so far. anyway, i guess its a discussion to be had in a more conducive chai-samosa setting! i am afraid my dreams are like lennon's :) |
