Topic: Green Card Approved

No, i did not use LC sub.
Using POJ method i cantacted IO at USCIS and he gave me this info. Also i used local cngresswoman ti hel with my I-485 application in mid of 2007 and they sent few inquiries to FBI and i believe that might have helped me in name check clearence. Not a bad idea to contact local congress/senator for the help.

Topic: Green Card Approved

Thanks to all for your valuable inputs. My I-485 application got approved on 6th June, 2008 after almost 2 years in I-485. My details are in the profile.
Looks like TSC started looking into 2006 applications.

Topic: Is the name check confusion over at TSC ?

mine is also PD 2002, RD 2006. My name check was cleared in Oct'2007, and case is still pending at Texas. It looks like they are not at all looking into 2006 cases.

Topic: NameCheck reform conference update

For those who are stuck in name check and amyone who are intersted -

Today we got some important news from Capitol Hill. The details are a bit confusing, but bottom line for us is that we have more time to gather support on the issue. And that is a good thing. Congressmen will be at home on recess through December 4th, which gives us the opportunity to set up local meetings or attend town hall meetings. If you are interested in this, please let us know and we will try to help you coordinate with other people in your areas. You can reach us at
stories [at] securecheckalliance [dot] org.

THE STORY ON THE CJS BILL:
The CJS conference has been postponed indefinitely because of issues unrelated the name check reform effort. Having said that however, the CJS appropriations bill served a critical purpose -- to fund several government agencies. We don't expect a shutdown of the FBI and other agencies over a political fight. Instead, the CJS provisions (probably without the controversial issues that have caused the legislative log jam) are expected to be rolled into an "Omnibus" appropriations bill with a larger scope of provisions than were included in the CJS bill alone.

DIFFERENT BILL, SAME OPPORTUNITY:
The Levin amendment is expected to stay when CJS provisions are rolled into the Omnibus appropriations bill. The Levin amendment passed on a voice vote with widespread support in the Senate. Like the CJS appropriations bill, the Omnibus appropriations bill will also have a conference between the House and the Senate. The same Congressmen will be in that conference, so we are sill working with the same basic opportunity for reform and we are working with the same key members of Congress.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING FOR:
Many people have seen Congresswoman Yvette Clarke's bill, HR 3828 IH, which was introduced for consideration of the Judiciary Committee on October 15th. We are working with Congresswoman Clarke to support an amendment to the Omnibus bill that would expand the scope of HR 3828 to incorporate an individual review process.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP:
1. Keep calling your congressman, but with a slightly updated message:
"National security requires that the FBI actually LOOK in the name check files. We want the House to make that change in the CJS title of the Omnibus appropriations bill. Please instruct the conferees."

2. Try to get an appointment with your Congressman (check with us -- maybe somebody in your district is already working on this) or go to a town hall meeting. The single most effective thing you can do is to speak with a Congressman in person to communicate that this is an issue for folks at home.

3. Join as a contributing member to American Families United or Legal
Immigrant Association:

4. Keep spreading the word.

Topic: Name Check Reforem Conference - Immdiate Action required

I am registered to one of the name check YAHOO group, and received following email. Please, participate actively, this may be our best shot towards getting some positive resolution on the name check delays. Details as follows -

There is an immediate opportunity for name check reform in the conference between the House and Senate on the commerce, State, Justice appropriations bill.

This conference is expected as early as NEXT WEEK, so the need for action is IMMEDIATE. We need to make the key decision makers on the conference aware that this is a constituent issue.

If you are in a critical district listed below, everybody on this list is depending on you:

Alan Mollohan, Chairman, West Virginia, district 1
Patrick J. Kennedy, Rhode Island, district 1
Chaka Fattah, Pennsylvania, district 2
Dutch Ruppersberger, Maryland, district 2
Adam Schiff, California, district 29
Rosa DeLauro, Connecticut, district 3
David Price, North Carolina, district 4
Dave Obey, Wisconsin, district 7
Rodney Frelinghuysen, Ranking Member, New Jersey, district 11
John Culberson, Texas, district 7
Hal Rogers, Kentucky, district 5
Tom Latham, Iowa, district 4
Robert Aderholt, Alabama, district 4
Jerry Lewis, California, district 41

Right now, we are collecting stories and they should be emailed to stories@securecheckalliance.org. We will also be working to arrange in-person meetings or calls in these key districts.

* Please include your name, your Congressman, and the city and state where you live with your story. If you are unsure who your Congressman is, please go to www.house.gov

If you are not in one of these districts, take heart that a lot of people in these districts have been getting involved. What you can do to help is try to find others in these districts who have the problem.

Also, we need your financial support now more than ever. Donation meters for both LIA and AFU, which are together funding this effort, are up on the securecheckalliance.org web site.
