Topic: Landing question

1) One year from the date you did your medicals.
2) If you leave Canada without your PR card, you need to wait until you receive it in the mail to re-enter. If you can't wait, get a returning resident permit from a canadian consulate. Remmember, your immigrant visa is only valid for ONE entry.
3) I already answered this. And no they didn't see my Canadian immigrant visa.
4) You can land by air, car, bicycle, horse back, its your personal choice.

There is a chance that US IO may not look at your Canadian immigrant visa too favorably (that is only if they see it. I had a passport full of visas, I myself have trouble finding anything in there, yet alone an immigration officer who is looking at it for the first time!)

Topic: Landing question

Thought I'd add my landing experience to anyone who may find it helpful:

On a valid H1-B in the US, flew to Vancouver from Philadelphia May 25, 2008
Didn't go through regular immigration booths, went in to the immigration main office.
Went to the welcome booth, picked up info. on SIN and Medical insurance.
Took a number for an immigration officer (the wait time was 5 mins)
Gaver her my passport and COPR

Questions asked:
Are you still studying in the US? No (she was looking at an old F-1 visa)
How much $ do you have in your pockets? $200
How much $ are you bringing in? Gave her my US bank statement
Are you sending any goods? How? Yes by ship (gives me details on how to make an appointment with a customs officer once my goods arrive. I didn't need to submit a goods to follow list. You show the list once the goods arrive.)
Do you have an address in Canada? Gave her my friend's address in Toronto
Do you have a phone number? Gave her my cell phone number which works in Canada as well
Have you deported/convicted of a crime? No

Cancels my immigrant visa, attaches a copy of the COPR (which we both signed), says that my PR card will be mailed in 6 weeks (yes 6, not 4) and that if I leave the country before the PR arrives I'd need a visa to re-enter.

Left Vancouver, back to Philly 2 days later. US immigration asked me why I was in Canada. Its none of their god damn business, so I told them I was visiting friends (which is partly true cos I did in fact visit friends!)

Smooth landing, took 10 minutes to complete. Waiting for my PR card now. Any specific questions THAT I HAVE NOT ALREADY COVERED, I'd be happy to answer. Good luck all!

Be prepared to show W-2 tax documents and pay stubs that were made on behalf of the "employee." That is of course if you are in the US.

You should be able to travel to Switzerland, Mexico and a few Carribean countries. Entry requirements change without notice. You should always check with the consulate of your destination before you begin travel.

Topic: FBI record request

Browby07, I don't think you understood my question. My question was NOT "will the FBI go by my request if I say ASAP", it was "if the credit card is charged, does that mean it is being processed as opposed to being left on a big pile?". However, thank you for your ATTEMPT to help. Anyway, the question is still open to more knowledgeable users of the site.

Topic: FBI record request

Hi all- This is for ones who had gone through the painstaking process of getting your fingerprint card back from the FBI. Did anyone receive your card back soon after your credit card was charged (thats if you paid by credit card)? I sent my request to the FBI Oct 24, 2007 and my card was charged Oct 30, 2007. Does this means that they are processing it and will be sending it back soon? I do relaize the standard processing time is 16-18 weeks. I did write on the enveloppe that I need it ASAP.
