The lady ask for the zip code and based on that she will tell you name of the congress member for your area and then xfer the call to him/her. Then you can talk to the person taking messages. Topic: Status on name and backgound check
In the past, I had tried several times to call USCIS to check on my name and background using the famous POJ method as follows:
Call 1-800-375-5283 options 1, 2, 2, 6, 1 (Now enter your receipt number SRCxxxxxxxxxx), 1 , 1, 3, 4.
Until now, they have been reading the same old message that appears on the website and said they don't have access to name and background check info. This time I did not ask the status on my 485, I directly requested to give me status on name and background check. To my surprise, she said that the name check is cleared and my FP is valid until Jan 2009. I also observed that this lady was different from the rest of the reps I have talked so far. They always gave badge #s and were overly polite. This lady was flat and direct and started the conversation by "What is you SRC"? Hmmm...looks like I got transferred directly to Level 2 by mistake but I am happy to know the info. |
