A few words about me
My name is Joe Farah. I'm from Lebanon and I graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, MA with a Master in Civil and Environmental Engineering. I got an offer for an OPT in Seattle, WA and I will start September 29. The company said they would be willing to sponsor me for an H1B provided that my performance at work is satisfactory. Looking forward to my OPT but for now I'm looking for...

Topic: LUD while "Card Production Ordered"??????

Yeah but I directly got "Card Production Ordered" and it's been stuck like that for 4 days with an LUD. They sure are taking their time.

Topic: LUD while "Card Production Ordered"??????

Hi! I had my application approved on Oct 1 and on Oct 2 I had an LUD without the status changing to "Card Mailed". Till now (Oct 4), the card has not been mailed. Should I worry about a problem with my application??

Topic: Is it risky to travel home and have a friend FEDEX the EAD (OPT) card to you?

Hi Grad,
Did you manage to return to the US using the scanned copy of your EAD?

Topic: EAD Delay Cases > 90 days

I am at the mercy of the lazy slobs of the Vermont Service Center. Good luck in your second Infopass.

Topic: EAD Delay Cases > 90 days

Hey Guys,
Could you please let me know if I have enough grounds for an email to the USCIS Ombudsman:
1- My EAD has been pending for 107 days
2- Contacted the local congressman office and they failed to know anything about my application other than the processing timeframes available online.
3- The customer service line refused to file an expedite request because I file for one when my application has been pending for 60 days and could only manage a regular service request (response time is 45 days)
4- When explaining that to the local office, they said they can't do anything since I already have a service request and interim EADs are no longer issued.
I couldn't record the name of the officer at the local office but I have the name and ID of the representative I spoke with as I well as a confirmation number for the service request.
Thanks!!

Topic: Traveling while OPT is Pending

No. You definitely need an F1 visa for reentry so reapply for one when you go back. You also need a recent signature on your I-20.

I usually transfer through London-Heathrow and I am always asked if I had my I-20 but was never required to show it. Anyway, if I did I have the OPT recommendation on it. London-Heathrow is the best ;).

Topic: Does OPT application has to go through security check?

From what I know, any application can be subject to security checks not just I-485s. Security checks mostly happen to people from six countries (Iran, Sudan, Cuba, North Korea, Syria and Libiya) if I am not mistaken due to tensions I guess with the US. However, the immigration officer has the right to transfer any case to security check. This could happen to me, you or anyone because of a match with someone with a similar name who violated his immigration status or who poses a "security" threat. Unfortunately, they are doing that to you. So sorry to hear that because it significantly delays the processing.

Topic: OPT not here, and 60 days about to be over

It's good that you have family here. Don't worry about your status as it is completely legal. I applied June 16 at the Vermont service center and I thought I would have the EAD by the end of August. Of course, that did not happen but I got an extension till Sep 29 for my job. If I don't get the EAD card by then, I'm out.

Topic: New USCIS Processing Timeframes????????????

Exactly. Principles of valid reasoning fail when you try to figure out USCIS. If Plato or Aristotle were alive today, they would commit suicide upon seeing what we see. I submitted my application June 16. If it's going to take another 2.5 months, then I should kiss my job goodbye and go away.
