Topic: Country quotas...?
GCnow, First of all let me make it clear that we are all NOT against diversity. But we have difference of opinion on where that 'diversity principle' should be applied.
We have quotas in GC lottery and Family based visas and it can be justified, of course. But why on employment based GC? An employment should be based on the individual's educational qualifications and professional talents. NOT his country of birth. Is it not?
When an employer hires you, he is not supposed to make the hiring decision based on any of the discriminating factors. Then why should that factor play a role when the employer wants to retain the employee for a longer time? |

Thanks everyone who was active here. Even though I am one of those who could not make it, I'm happy for those who could and I'm satisfied that I did whatever I could.
No one expected the bulletin to become current till June 12, 2007. Who knows, may be there might be another miracle sometime soon to help us all :) For those who could file their 485 by today, my best wishes for further stages...
Everyone of you, please make it a point to support and participate in the rally at DC on Sep 18th (organized by immigration voice). That is our only hope now, since a law change is what can bring relief to all of us.

Seems to be a good day today. I had sent certified mails through USPS to renata, elaine chao, dr.carlson, zoe lofgren, etc. with just my name and city.
Surprisingly, yesterday I received a letter (through post) to my home address from Zoe Lofgren saying that she has forwarded my mail to my local congressman and also asked me to follow up with my local congressman. I really wonder how they found my home address, with just my name.
I'll post the entire content of the letter in the evening, as I don't have it with me right now. |

dsikka, this is with regard to your comment on june/july filers.
As my ID says, my perm was filed on June 22. This is my 83rd post here. If you have time, can you please browse through this forum and have a look at my posts. If you still feel I'm 'useless', please let me know and I'll try to correct myself.

Guys, no one is going to come after you searching your IP address just because you sent an e-mail requesting them to speed up the process. We are not spammers sending marketing e-mails. So, don't listen to some jerks. |

I already contacted immigration voice. Looks like they are not too keen to solve this issue and for some reason they are pissed off that we rejoiced on July 2nd when the fiasco happenend. Seems some Backlog ppl went and posted offensive comments there.
Anyway, I don't think we'll get much help from there. we got to help ourselves. |

And now that they have suspended 140 processing indefinitely, and the fact that 140 approvals are taking between 9 to 12 months, it may be hard to get those 3 year extensions too.
All these facts make the Labor certification before Aug 15 as essential for all of us. When they open flood gates next, say around 2009-2010, the dates don't have to be 'current'...it has to be 2007, for us to sneak in :) |

But in the mean time, think about a back up plan too ... for the 'just in case' scenario. I am saying this especially for people whose status (H1, etc) will be in trouble if they are unable to make it .
I sincerely hope everyone of us would make it before THE AUG 17 :) |
