BOA statements should be fine. Thats what I used. Additionally you can also send a printout of the activity in your account from the date of the statement to the current date. Make sure to click on the button "show account number" before taking the printout.

For bank statements, this might be relevant to many of you. I bank with Bank of America and they dont sign/stamp any documents if you visit the bank. I did not want to risk sending just the printout of online statements.

Customer service claims that it takes 7-10 business days to receive statements. Mine took 7 and last time it took 8 - so thats correct. So, you need to consider that while preparing your application.

BUT the rules say that the statement should be less than 7 days old. Also statements mailed by BofA are on a monthly basis. So, if your cycle ends on say 20th October, and you request a statement on Nov 1, they will still mail you statement till Oct 20.
I was not sure how to work around this rule but I relied on the consulate being logical.

I sent them a cover letter explaining how I cant meet the rules completely -
I sent them the official statements which were 12 days old AND a printout of my current activity from the online banking tool.
Since the online printout had my account number and amounts shown were corroborated by the official statements, they approved it.

You can schedule biometric for any date after completing the online application. There is probably some deadline like 1 month within which you have to do so but I dont recall seeing one.

You have **2 weeks from the date*** you got your biometric scan done to mail your application. So, I would recommend getting an appointment for a date by which you expect to have documents ready.

So if you submit online app on say Oct 25, you can schedule biometric for Nov 15 (or even later) but will have to mail in your documents by end of November.

For visa stamping, you can request a date upto 3 months in advance. No more. This is true for almost all consulates. not just British.

For bank statements. you should double check their site - but one statement should be good enough for you and all your dependants assuming it has enough funds to cover all of them.

The website says 5-10 business days. Mine took 4 business days. You can use visa expediting services if you need it quicker.

Topic: Los Angeles (LA) Consulate: Can I go in person for visa stamping?

LA consulate said that we can go in person but they dont return the passport back the same day. They take "upto 5 days" to return the passport.

Here's the exact email:
"You can submit your passport etc in person, Monday to Friday, between 8.30am and 10.30am. However, we require up to 5 business days to finalise a file for visa issuance. You may come back and collect your passport or leave a prepaid return envelope/shipping label."

Topic: How long do they take to stamp and send back the passpot?

My question was addressed to gjp1 and not Johnyla. Or anyone else who got his PPR from LA consulate.
My letter does *NOT* mention that I can come in person. So, I guess LA consulate is the only one with such a stipulation?

Topic: How long do they take to stamp and send back the passpot?

Hi Johnyla,
I got a PPR from LA office too. I wanted to know if I could apply in person for visa stamping?
Did you try to find out?
The letter did not mention I could come in person.

Thanks,
K.
