Topic: how long to get Green Card after interview????

Greenbrier,

I went to the Washington, DC local office. I do not know where my case is now. Probably still in the field office where I went for the interview.

Topic: how long to get Green Card after interview????

I have been waiting since Jan 2008. Though the welcome notice that was printed in the office does clearly mention that it will take between 6 to 7 months to get my card. Back then I found it very odd and now I understand why they said what they said. I keep on waiting...

Greenbrier, my situation is exactly like yours. I had an interview in the local office, the case was approved and the card has not arrived yet.

Topic: i551 stamps in passport after interview how long take to get real card

Well I know that the I-551 stamp works. Since January, I have travelled abroad twice and did not have any issues re-entering the country. Though it would be nice to have the card in hand.

During my interview, the IO did clearly mention that because of their internal process it may take up to 6months for me to receive the card hence she was going to stamp my passport right away to avoid another trip to USCIS. I guess she was talking from experience. :)

Topic: i551 stamps in passport after interview how long take to get real card

I guess it depends. My interview was on Jan 8, 2008 and they *did* stamp my passport. Till date I have not received the actual card. I did open a SR on 34th day and the reply I received is "The card is in the production process and they have requested for another 60 days".

On the other hand, I have seen people receiving their card within 5 days.

Topic: 485 RFE, Lot of documents needed !!

you will have to check with your employer. I doubt that any employer or any one will hold on to a pay stub from 2002. asking for a paystub from 2002 is just insane. Who will ever retain a 6yr old pay stub? My $0.02

smog,

as far as I know, this is very standard stuff. In fact I'm surprised that you did not submit all these info to begin with. My attorney's made me submit all these stuff with the initial filing. I submitted copies of all my passports (including old ones), copies of my I-20's (yes I still have them..) and etc..

Can you really get tax transcripts for 2002 and 2003 in 2008? I was under the impression that you could only go back 3 years. If so, they you are in luck. If I were you, I would walk into any local IRS office and ask them to print out the tax transcripts right at the spot and find out if they can really go back in 2002. Just make sure you take your passport/id with you when you visit IRS.

Disclaimer: I did not read the complete thread.Just read smog's initial question.

Topic: Name Check Theory

My 485 RD is June 28 2007 and file was transferred to the local office in October 2007. So basically, the whole 485 process took me 6 months. To me thats very fast considering how some people are waiting for years.

I had the 864 ready (signed and notarized) but did not give it to them since they did not ask for it. Its free to get it to notarized. Banks usually have a notary public on staff and they do it for free or for $5. I took mine to my bank and they did it for free.

Topic: Name Check Theory

(This just a THEORY I came up with. Nothing is for real unless proven.)

Folks,

As some of you know that my GC was approved yesterday. I was very surprised that I did not get stuck in Name check when for some people the name check takes years.

Could it be that since I happen to be in the FBI system, my name check cleared quickly? I'm there because I had personally requested for a FBI clearance few years back for employment (http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fprequest.htm) . Which meant I had provided my name, date of birth and all the other details. May be being in their system worked in my favor.

It will be very interesting to see if any of the name check victims ever requested any type of clearance from FBI in the past. Victims please share.
