Topic: Finally approved - call from USCIS

ginetto

Well nothing in the conversion seemed to indicate that she was cross-checking anything.
It just seemed like courtesy call.

Now like I indicated in one of my earlier posts I contacted everyone under the Sun that
could help me get through the name check process. But since almost ~1 yr I had
given up hope and hadn't heard from anyone, I guess they had given up hope also :-)

So there is small possibility that when all these inquiries were been made around 2yrs ago
by my senator and congressman. They might have put some comment/note indicating
that this case in under congressman review [or some such thing not sure about the right
language here] which might have triggered call.

On the apology nothing but frankly I was just glad that the call was not to give some negative
news, like denial, RFE or something along those lines.

ginetto,
Yes same phone, same home for last 6 years. You can register your number on the DO NOT CALL list.
I have VOIP phone I can also block numbers why would I want to keep changing my numbers. I have
almost no issues receiving unwanted calls..

I actually find it surprising with so many things going on last thing you want is to add to more confusion
by changing numbers every 6 months....

Topic: Finally approved - call from USCIS

Like I said I was pleasantly surprised myself. By the way I did get an email update after that infact two
updates "card ordered" and "approval notice" sent.

Anyway well if you guys are so surprised about the phone call I think you should also look at my profile.
My case obviously hasn't been the normal/typical situation.

I am sure there is no one who filed (whose priority date is current) waiting from May 2004 [unless you
have an RFE, case transferred to NBC]. People from my company who filed along with me are
now US citizens.

kkate,
Like I said it was a courtesy call initial part was just confirming that she was talking to the right person.
Then all she said was that my case was approved and then I asked few questions just to be sure that
this was not a fake call.

a2zgc,
Yes I did contact my congressman/senator/ombudsman/USCIS director but that was like 2 yrs ago.
Without anything useful help from them I had almost stopped contacting them or anyone for last ~1
year or so. So I feel it is very less likely that this would have been the reason but it could be.

Thanks everyone.

Call was a pleasant surprise but have no complaints.. as such I didn't do anything
recently that could have triggered this call. I just feel it was some good soul who
was working on my case and decided to give a call.

But yes when I was stuck in the name check, I think I might written/contacted everyone I could
that could even remotely help my case. Irony is that nothing really worked eventually one fine
day just like that my name check cleared.

Well got a 6.30 am (local time) call , initially skeptical but was genuine call.

Anyway after a very......long time my case got approved was stuck in the name check
black hole. I might almost be last one (or one of the last ones) getting approved from
May 2004 (receipt date)

case also got updated after the call. It looked like a courtesy call I guess after all the
pain/wait I guess USCIS thought I needed some special treatment :-)

Topic: Card production ordered - anything after that?

Just wondering for guys (especially from NSC) once you got card production ordered
email did you get anything after that in terms of email updates?
Or after this message the next thing was to just wait for the card. Actually this email
is for a friend of mine, he got card production ordered email and then no updates after
that [been a week for him].

Topic: very few approvals today

Couldn't resist to put some of my thoughts..

Have you guys (patiphone in particular) wondered why so many people want to come here.
It is because US as a nation has been very successful, and one of key contributors in success
have been immigrants and the immigration policy US has (despite it's flaws). [Note: This policy is
very different from many nations around the world that haven't enjoyed the same amount
of success despite being in existance for much longer than US.]

But once you loose this competitive edge the nation is no longer going to enjoy the success that
it has which in turn makes it less attractive for people to come here. I do not believe anyone
of us would want this.

To put in a different perspective imagine if US was a company wouldn't you want to hire the
best (irrespective of their color, country of origin, race ....etc). Rather than be constrainted
by certain attributes ( like race/country) ofcourse you would want to hire only the number of
people you really need (in short I do believe there has to be limit). But this limit should not
be based on country of origin.

one final comment for people who believe that their immigration woes are being caused by
people from one (or two) country are sadly mistaken (apart from this being a very racist
comment). Which is worse you have an option to migrate with opportunities (though you
guys believe it is not fair) vs having the option to migrate but no jobs.

patiphone

You seem to be very ignorant this is not me saying that lottery is for diversity it is the
state department (US Govt) look at the link below,
http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1318.html

Also I think you just don't have your basics right. In an employment based application
you need to satisfy the terms and conditions of your employment even past your GC approval.

The lottery is not the way to solve the issue of ROW people with skills who work in the US and try to get a green card.

I know Indian people have more patience than people from other countries. They are more complacent. Like mentioned here, if you remove the per-country quota, you would simply get rid of non-Indians. (except for a very small percentage).

Even WITH the quota, as we see on this site, more than 50% of approvals are for Indian. You can't complain about it. You DO need to take SOME responsibility for your people's actions. If it was not for Indian people in mass immigrating to the US (and again, somebody here mentioned you're smarter, maybe you don't need to immigrate, build a better country and industry in India instead), there would be less backlog for everybody else. It's not the poor people of India who are immigrating, mostly.

About my basics, ok. You can continue to work for your sponsoring employer after your green card, until you die.

I think you seem to have come the full circle now. Interesting to see now you say people with "SKILLS" that is what I/we have been sayting. Anyway tell me one job where it says that they will hire someone based on which country they belong so fair argument is wny limit it based on country.

But of course with a twist that it should for ROW, I mean if no one is stopping people from any part of the world from applying
and that is how it should be...

I guess their is no point continuing the discussion (at least from my side) since you just don't seem to be very logical
in your reasoning.

Smarter enough to hire a good lawyer to put you in EB2 instead of EB3...Last year many Indians played this game and caused the visas for EB2 to become unavailable:))

Lucky1

I just don't get your point. The system has to be fair while I am not really sure what you mean "by hire a good lawyer to put you in EB2" I guess everyone has the same opportunity "to be smart enough to hire a good lawyer"

The system has to be fair which of course is a very subjective term but fair to a point that you do not get discriminated based on
your race/country/religion.
