Topic: Got Card but no Welcome Notice.. I think

Thanks for the link.
No, we did not recieve the Approval Notice till now. They are sick of hearing from us, last time the congressman's office called they told them to stop calling because they don't have it, so they will not send a new one till they get.
And either way, "it doesn't matter" because we have our cards and that's all that matters!
It's so frustrating.. we have not given up yet though. I am going to wait till after New Years, then bug them some more and pray we get somewhere :(

Ah yes, you don't insult people on this forum, you just insult and generalize on ALL female IOs because of one IOs behavior, and make a disgusting and sexist generalization on females in general.

What you said was sexist. What you are still saying is sexist. This is something that may have been tolerated in your country, but it will not be tolerated in this country.

I am not insulting you (nor am I a "feminist"), I am giving you advice you obviously need. You need to sort out the issues you have with females since obv, you have them. Otherwise, you will have a hard time adjusting in this society... and trust me, if a feminist attacks your weird ideas, you won't know what hit you!

No, I said there were many reasons she could be annoyed/in a bad mood since she is HUMAN. Just like there are many reasons a male IO could be in a bad mood... however, you decided to be sexist and chauvinistic about it, blaming it on her being female.

I don't know why you insist on bringing gender into it (male involved/female suffering and even female jealousy... wow, you are a pc of work aren't you!). It seems you have some issues you need to sort out, but the point is, it doesn't matter WHY the IO acted in the stupid manner she did.

What DOES matter is YOU blaming it on her gender, and saying one should always avoid female IOs because they are X, Y and Z

That is sexist, pure and simple. And FYI, the country whose green card you seek does not tolerate such behavior, so I suggest you get the help you need, and fast.

Topic: What do you guys say about Joe Biden

who cares about biden....the question is who you think is hotter? bristol palin or megan mccain?

Wow. What an important part of the Campaign.

Seeing as how Bristol is only 17, that makes you a pervert/child molestor. Good for you!

Thank you ls521!
Do you happen to have the link where you read that?

I am sure that it will probably not be a big deal but we have been pretty unlucky in the GC game, with problems cropping up for us where everything should have been problem free, and a lawyer with 30 yrs of experience telling us ours was one of the more rare cases with all the problems it went through with USCIS. So I will not be surprised to find out in 4 years from now, just as we are starting to apply for citizenship, USCIS changes it's laws and insists on having a copy of the Approval Noitce, and then we will get into trouble for not fighting hard enough for it and be accused of losing it

Although now that I think about it, I suppose in the worst case scenario, we could always simply cough up the ~$400 each and get a copy of the approval notice, but that is something I REALLY don't want to do (plus, it takes up to a YEAR to do so!!!!!!!!!!).

Guess nothing to do but wait and see ... I am just so thankful our green cards arrived with no problem and no mistakes on teh card, so at least now I can work/travel hassle free, and the approval notice can take its sweet time I guess :)

Topic: H1-B visa stamping and Passport expiration

I think the stamp will be issued irrespective of passport expiration. Ie, if you are supposed to get three years, you will, even if your passport expires in 1 year

(I am not sure of this but I do seem to recall a friend who was carrying around 2 passports because her old passport was expired and she needed to travel with her current, newer passport, but she had to carry the old one around because it had her US visa in it).

As for your 2nd Q, I would think that it will probably be easier for you to do so, simply because the IO could notice your passport expiring soon and not give you the full 3 yrs, and then you will have to go through the stamping again when renewing your passport. OR, best case, you will have to carry around 2 passports when you travel and have to go through the hassle of explaining why to every airline personnel!

Topic: resources on citizenship (post greencard)

Best place is USCIS website. They have a very informative handbook.

Basically, what you need to do is keep track of all overseas trips + duration of each trip so that you can verify you were not out of the US more than 180 days/year.

Also, you will be eligible to apply 4yrs, 9 months after the date of approval for your GC (or 2 yrs, 9 months after marriage to a USC).

Another thing is keep away from illegal behavior, as some cases might get you into big trouble with USCIS either in revocation of your GC or being denied for citizenship

Topic: painful situation

That is an extremely sexist statement to make.

From professionals who have been deemed smart enough to apply for a green card, I would have expected better.

It does not matter if the IO was male or female, and what they did the night before is of no concern to you (and to point that out AND blame it on why she treated you bad is chauvinistic behavior).. it could be that the person before you was a rude, chauvinistic male pig and that put her in a bad mood, and you happened to be next in line.

Faama... how are things going for you? Have you found a job in Canada yet? Has anything been resolved on the US side? I am praying for you my dear, Insha Allah it will all work out for you and your family!

No, we have not. It turned out to be a bit more serious than expected (isn't everything with USCIS?)

We never recieved them, USCIS refuses to budge about it, even to the congressman's office (our contacts have been checking weekly).

USCIS insists the approval letters were mailed, and they have not been returned to any USCIS office so they are either in the mail or in our mailbox.

It's been over a month later, so they can't still be in the mail and we have not recieved anything.

We were finally able to convince someone at USCIS to file a service request yesterday, we will see what happens I guess. Nothing to do but wait and see!
