ms99171: In my case it took a little under four months from the time I got my EAD card until I got the Interview Notice. All the centers do take different times, but they are not really all that off from each other.
hope that helps! This will the longest wait for you with no indicaiton of how your case is progressing, so try to be patient (i know it's hard!). |

We got approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The interview was shorter than I thought, about 30-45 minutes. The interviewer was nice and polite, but not friendly. He took us through the application and all the basic questions. He asked a lot about the actual wedding, who was there, when, reception, rings, etc. He asked for financial documents, credti cards, bank accounts, insurance, cars, anything really. He asked if he could keep our joint bank account statements. he copied our insurance and credit cards with matching numbers. He asked about our lease and living situation.
then he said we were approved! He must have updated the system right there cause the next day I got an email saying the card had been ordered!!!
He didn't ask for photos or about our jobs at all. We feel great :)

BBW - that is great news!
So I went online on USCIS and the date has changed in my 485 row, to July 22, 2008. I got the interview notice at the end of June and my interview is august 11th (coming up very soon!).
Does anyone know if this is normal? Or does it even mean anything? |

I believe that you should be checking the dates for the Seattle 485, which was October 13 when I looked. So you should be up soon!
I am out of the Santa Ana office, which says Nov 2, and I got my interview notice about a month ago now. So it seems that the online dates are pretty accurate for what to expect. Before we got the interview notice it had been quite since Feb as well, so we are pretty much on the same track! |

Congrats!!! That is great news and you should celebrate as soon as the card gets there! I'll bet those days waiting after the interview were the longest. It seems like they don't approve anyone at the interview anymore.
One less thing for you to worry about with a little one on the way! |

thanks for the input guys. I am definitely uneasy about this issue. Oh yeah and boss never asked to see card, just wanted to know that we had it.
what if no taxes were paid during that time? Classed as independent contractor so the employer does not withhold. this means we pay self-employment taxes. (also means employer can get away without offering benefits.) |

i have a question for you seymoe or anyone who has had the experience ... on student visa which expired in sept/oct 2007. then received EAD card in feb 2008. unauthorized work in this short period.
Got the job at this place, when we promised that EAD card would be arriving soon. Still working there and boss happy that card came through, now everything is legit.
in interview do we say no work during this time and live off one salary until card received? or admit work started there while waiting for card? i am inclined to cover it up, but then worry about stories not matching or other inconsistencies. |

Good news! On friday the letter came saying we have on interview for August 11th!!!!!!!! Does this mean that we have got through name check okay?

wow that sucks that they were so rude and you got no info at all! I was thinking about tryign the info pass, but I guess I will just wait for that magic letter to come telling me I have an interview!!!!! |
