Topic: Buying a house at pending 485 not a good idea?

well as it is obvious now, that the housing market was funding the economy, and all laws are being passed to "save" the homeowners who bought into the ownership mania thereby the inflation in house prices (home values doubled from 2000 to 2005) { read up on Tulip mania}...... basically if you buy a house and have to foreclose it because you cannot stay in this country, in future the bank will definitely step in to help resolve the immigration issue.

I did not buy a home for the concept of saving on rent, it just sounds bogus. Rent is a short term concept and rents fluctuate wildly over years, Buying a house is a decently longer term compared to renting and trying to draw similarities is weird.

The market is definitely falling, when it will reach the bottom is not sure. The reason I bought house last month { @20% premium to Builders cost of manufacturing the house, significantly lower than most deals out there}, when in the fall zone with no hopes of improvement it is the best time to make a deal at a lower price, when it has reached the bottom or near it particularly when it is common knowledge sellers are least expected to make deal due to optimism that prices are rising and will get a better deal from the other guy..... imagine yourself in the sellers shoes to follow this idea.

if you want to buy, consider your financial future and see if you can get the best deal. Don't wait for the mortgage rate for you can always get it refinanced if you have bought it at a good price. you can always rent it via a rental company, which can help you recoup most of the mortgage cost / sell it

buying a home for investment, this might not be the best time but it is good time to put money in a home to hold on to your moneys worth, as most banks default you cannot keep all the money in a safe at home, the next best solution is to convert it in to ownership of an asset, to me home is an asset I choose to have.

Topic: waiting for a little over 500 days.

Hi bro, I have been waiting for 800+ days not counting the years I lost in previous applications. I can bet you can find people who have been waiting longer than I have.

I hope it makes you feel better that you are not alone.

happy new year.

Topic: Help me with this

you can ask questions to the attorneys on this forum which seems to be relatively inexpensive compared to personal visit.

Topic: Employer Refused to pay Prevailing Wage after GC

get a job that pays you well.

this is a recession year, so no one will question you if you changed jobs. eitherways you don't care for you are free at last.

Congrats

Topic: OLD H1 reopened

watch out, for what they are saying is they are reviewing their earlier decisions, in case if they choose to invalidate a prior decision, the subsequent H1 approvals can also be hurt.

Get an attorney to look at this, so you are prepared if something unfavorable happens.

Better to be prepared and hope for the best.

Topic: Indian with non-Indian citizenship recently approved GC

I have been to Canada twice earlier and will be visiting this year again for stamping as I changed employer. The standard answer -- I did not get a lot of days off to make the trip to India, above all the more you work the more you generate taxable earning for the country so they will never be offended for you not taking break.

when you are visiting India, visiting family why do you want to carry the tension of the visa approval, you probably seeing your family after a long time, enjoy and let them feel good in your presence rather than being bogged down by the visa issue.

Topic: White Americans will not be majority by 2042

gcardrabbit: was the intent of your discussion to hint towards rise of Nazi philosophy of race superiority and cleansing other races, couple of weeks ago a person of Mexican origin was beaten badly in Shenandoah, PA by white teenage kids, the man passed away 2 days later in a hospital. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5huiVTwLLrGgRl9AkZSSKKv3sE1fAD920DRO80

way before 2040, lots of immigrants --- ones capable of generating taxable wealth will definitely pursue another nation to make it home.

Topic: Illegal acts with GC

Bestia,

You are of course correct. In the end, your card is simply proof of status, but when push comes to shove, they will have supporting records at the POE, fingerprint scans, etc, as ways of letting you in.

However, have a look at this:

http://tokyo.usembassy.gov/e/visa/tvisa-ivlprfaq.html#six

The point is, the person wanted to know if it was legal to have a green card sent to his wife if she was approved while abroad. The answer (and that includes the answer recommended by a U.S. Embassy as per the link above) is yes!

Cheers!

they are referring to the I-551 stamp ...which is the temporary proof of the LPR status

the initial question, where the primary applicant is present in the country but the spouse -- beneficiary is outside the country, doesn't translate to abandoning the GC process. so the primary should be able to send across the document to the spouse. or the other option would be to go to the nearest embassy and get a I-551 stamp again

well Immigration is supposed to know when you are out of the country as the I-94 is supposed to be taken when you leave the country.

the other option is the primary carries the document with himself and brings back the spouse... no hassle of getting lost
