Topic: Laid Off while on H1B and PERM pending

Good for you geoale!
I hope more and more people do this, and that these people are the most qualified and brightest as you clearly are.
I have been debating the same question - 3 masters degrees in quantitative areas, paid decently, been here since 1993, but my entire future hangs on the f***ing H-1b. Most European countries allow citizenship after 20 years of being a resident - 10 years ago I thought that was restrictive. Today I realize that after 20 years I will probably not even have my green card, and God only knows if I'll even apply for citizenship after all this.
Also, the rules are getting tougher even after a gc; the only safe way to not be a second class citizen in this country is to be a citizen - so another long line of processing delays. (I believe the current citizenship line is 2 years right now but could be wrong).
If I lose my current job I will move back. Its hard to start life after 15 years in another country but I did it before so why not again. I love this country, but hate the immigration system.
And because of this conflicting feeling, I hope large numbers of departing immigrants will damage an already faltering economy, and finally shake some sense into the new President and Congress. But going by events in the last 10 years, somehow I doubt it.

Topic: ACTION ITEM: Send Letter to DOL regarding Audit DELAYS

Is it possible that DOL is deliberately slowing down approvals (using audit) so that USCIS is not overloaded with I-140 applications which are already backlogged?

I agree, that is why I think IV is ineffective.
We need much more than a bunch of kids hiring Quinn gillespie to lobby. (have you heard aman kapur founder of IV on the radio? He sounds completely inarticulate, cannot even express our problems effectively). IV has no big names and not even any lawyers representing its cause - they badly need someone who can do a better job than them. Its moderators and even its founder seems to be inadequate at knowing how to go aout this, yet they keep collecting money, and using their own 'wisdom' in formulating strategy. Anyone who tries to offer a different solution gets cut down by their mods.
Only time they respond is when you talk aout money.Money is part of what is required, but not only money, and unfortunately their strategy is not long term thinking.
At the rate they are going they will keep asking for minor details while illegals will get citizenship before us. The govt responded to removing hard country caps by retrogressing everyone. So basically it is stepping from one line to the next, with more fees at every stage.
So, my opinion is that IV is quite stupid in asking for such small things, while anti immigrants are happy to give us this but ultimately add one more step of waiting. Yet they are spending so much money. IV claims that you cannot ask for very big things, even though we are fully legal and tax paying. Oh yeah? watch the illegals, and tell me why not.

This is a typical response from IV. cmon do you really think numbersusa has time to go maligning IV on each and every site?
they have much better connections than IV.
Ok, so maybe IV managed to get the 7% cap made more flexible, but that is my point: they are working on small achievements which dont do much to help in the long run, and using $60K for 6 months to achieve only this is not exactly a great achievement. If they are spending so much they should have been able to get Skil bill passed last year. And what about all the other money they keep on collecting?
And by the way I am not a numbersusa spy. Check my entry in this database. Now you will claim numberususa is even applying for LCs to infiltrate the super-secret IV organization! The way you make it sound it sounds more top secret than FBI.

this states they have spent $60K on quinn, so WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH THE REMAINING $140,000??
and why they are asking for more and more money?
People who are donating are really stupid for not asking this question. founder seems to be a crook. this is a money making scam, and should be reported to police

they should be reported if they are misusing so much money. immigrants suffer enough anyway, cant believe these people are sc***ing their own

yes I have also noticed this before. why???
this is a very good way to track our applications, they should be highlighting it. only highlights and stickys are for donation, nothing more.
they are saying they collected $200,000 so far. lobbying firms charge about $75-80k a year. so WHAT ARE THEY DOING WITH ALL THE MONEY??? flights are not so expensive, they must be travelling first class and staying at waldorf astoria

you are right, mods are very arrogant and even the founder thinks he is God.
they delete any posts that dont agree with them and question their spending.
also skil bill was not because of them only, it was bec of industry players like bill gates lobbying.
definitely something fishy going on here. i know 4 people who asked for accounts of their contributions, and never got replies, instead they were told publicly on the forum not to question "God".
their strategy is also quite stupid, lobbying repeatedly for small actions, and then we will we hear that immigrants keep making demands. this is what i heard from my friends. so i will not join them. they sound like immature kids trying to make a business out of this

one of my friends contributed ~ $300 to immigrationvoice, and when he called the moderators to get updates (they dont update by email, more security than DHS), they never returned his calls. finally someone told him that the guy who started the site (forgot his name) is using all the money to recoup the money he spent personally before.
this is a scam. people are donating in good faith.
all the time they only keep asking for money, but never update their site, no results of their actions, no future plans, always saying they dont want the enemies to see their plans. what crap.
