Topic: One more stimulus check might be on its way

green822, y didn't you apply for itin number instead of SSN, if you have applied ead for your wife and son, now you can go and apply for SSN for both of them, you had till oct 15 to do any more filing or amendments to previous tax returns. one stupid q are you considered as a resident for tax purposes, and do you fill 1040 or 1040A

I filed amended tax return in March 2008 and didn't see any stimulus check .

Topic: Experience re-entering US with GC

I traveled overseas short after receiving my GC. Returning to the US at Newark Airport was quite an experience. No I-94 form. I spent exactly 10 seconds with the immigration officer. His questions were the purpose of my trip overseas and how long I was out of the US. He then swiped my GC and let me go with a smile. What a difference!!!!

How do they actually calculate how many days one spent abroad ? Does the Airlines staff hand the exit info to the USCIS ?

Topic: Anyone entered on AP, and got H1 Extension?

Hi,

Is there anyone who:

a. used AP to travel back to US, and
b. s/he never used EAD to work (neither before departure and nor after returning back to US), and
c. after return s/he continued to work on her/his left over H1 validity period, and
d. Her/his H1 is about to expire, and the H1 extention is filed. OR

e. Her/his H1 was about to expire, and the H1 extension was filed, and H1 extension was approved. OR

f. Her/his H1 was about to expire, and the H1 extension was filed, and the extension was denied on reasons except due to approval of 485 during H1 processing period.

If answer to (d.) is yes : did you recieve any RFE till date or just waiting for extension? Any experience, please share? OR

If answer to (e.) is true, can you share your experience on extesnion? OR

if answer to (f.) is true, can you share your experience on the reasons for denial? How you handled it?

Mine was case (e). About experience :

1. Came back to USA using AP ( was working on H1B , never used EAD, AP before )
2. Continued to work on H1B
3. Filed for H1 extension
4. Filed for AP,EAD again
5. H1 extension got approved
6. Then, after 2 months Green Card got approved.
7. AP,EAD got denied ( because i have green card ).

Topic: How long US Citizen(US born child) can stay outside the country?

US born child can stay for upto 6mts visiting India on a Visa. However if you obtain POI Card or OCI Card(this card is isuued to the child if either of the parents have an American Passport) from Indian Embassy you can stay longer.

One has to report regardless of visa or PIO card. Only those with OCI are exempted from reporting.

Topic: Put your contribution to get your card

I believe India's growth from outsourcing work is negligible.

Topic: Entering US with greencard at JFK (or any other airport)

Does a GC holder get asked at POE whether he is still working for the GC sponsored employer and working
in the same classification as mentioned in the labor certification ?

......
I don't think you need to wait for the Approval notice. Welcome notice is nothing but your approval notice. BTW, why would you get four Welcome Notice mails instead of just two (one for yourself and one for your spouse)?

I got one welcome notice. Spouse got three !
I asked my attorney about this, she said "Some times USCIS sends all the three original copies to applicant".
