Topic: Child's GC still not recieved

Did you get the "Card Production Ordered" notification for your son ? If you did not, it is likely that they forgot to do that. I would suggest calling the 1-800 number and following the instructions to get in touch with an Immigration Officer and tell him/her about the situation. For a friend of mine, they had forgotten to do the card production ordered stuff for both himself and his wife. After contacting the IO, they initiated it and he received the card in 4 days. No point contacting the customer service people.

Topic: Eliminating per-country quota only benefit those who are asking for it

I think per-country quotas are fair. I think it derives from the fact that there is a yearly quota. Maybe the quota for countries with a high population should be higher. Even that alone may not be fair. In addition, if USCIS implements its system of using the unused visa numbers at some point in the year properly and on a first-in-first-out basis, it will be fine.

If the per-country quota is eliminated, then they should also eliminate per-year quotas. That way it will be fair for everyone.

Topic: Retrogression question...

My country of birth is Malysia(non-retrogressed). My wife's country of birth is India(retrogressed). When we submitted our I-485 application, we did NOT make any special request for cross-chargeability for my wife(dates were current for India as well). My application has already been approved, while my wife's is still pending. Now, per the Dec visa bulletin, my PD is not current for India. Will she be affected by this (she being a derivative applicant and all)?

Thanks in advance for any input you can provide...

Topic: I 485 approval for my spouse

Actually, my wife was also on F1 status and she also got LUDs on the same dates as mine. Maybe that is the common link.

Topic: I 485 approval for my spouse

Actually, I did not request anything specifically when I filed. So, I am assuming mine was considered under Malaysia while my wife's would be under India. I am not sure whether this is even true. If someone knows, please do let me know.

I called NSC once without my wife being present and the IO officer that I spoke to said that her application is delayed because she is a derivative applicant. That did not make sense for me since a lot of people are getting their approvals together. She was not willing to discuss her case with me (without my wife present) any further. My wife and I decided to wait a month before she called. So, just waiting for early October and hoping her approval would go through in the meantime.

The confusing part for me is her LUDs. If she did not get LUDs on the same dates, I would have assumed that her security checks may be pending. Maybe the officer decided to "pre-approve" her case since my security checks got done but hers were not.

Topic: I 485 approval for my spouse

I got my approval on 09/05, but my wife did not. The interesting thing is we both got LUDs with no message change on 08/28 and 08/29.

My Country of Birth is Malaysia even though my Nationality is India. She is an Indian national and was born in India as well. I don't know whether this contributed to her not getting her approval. Or maybe her security checks did not clear. Not sure...

Topic: LUDs on I-485!!!

Unfortunately, this is not a given. My wife and I got LUDs on the same dates 8/28 and 8/29. I got my approval on 09/05 and today (09/12), I even received my approval notice by mail. But, my wife's case is still pending.

In any case, good luck to you...

Topic: LUDs on I-485!!!

I think the approval time frames after LUDs vary by service center.

It looks like if you get two LUDs at TSC, in about 2 weeks you can expect approval. This almost always seems to be true from what I see. But, at NSC it seems like it is more like 4 to 5 weeks.

Of course, I don't know whether this is true for all cases. But, in cases where it does happen, this seems to be the case.

Topic: Any FP notice from Nebraska Service center for Notice date after 05/16/07

Check with your lawyer whether he received the notice. He should receive a copy. Just for safety so that it is not just lost / delayed in the mail.

Thanks. You should be getting it soon, I guess. No LUD change. I think LUD "may" change after completing the actual FP. I am using "may" because for some people that does not seem to be happening.
