OK folks, finally I got the welcome notice. Now I guess I just wait for the card? Or should I get a separate I485 approval in addition to the welcome notice?

You will get one green form I-797C it says welcome notice - that is I-485 approval as well. Then you will get teh card. That should be it.

Also realised that I got courtesy copies of the welcome notice. Originals going to lawyers. Does that mean the plastic card is also going to the lawyers?

ENVY: I was under the impression that the GC always get maile dto the beneficiary. However, someone a month or two ago said their employer recd their cards. So if you did not get teh origginal approval notice, then teh cards will also go to the lawyers. Either way, if you dont get anything in next few days check with them. Good luck and I hope you will receive them tomorrow or so.

I recd my card in the mail. What is a welcome notice? What does it say on it?

Do people receive a "notice of action I-797C" - I have not recd anything other than the plastic card.

What is an approval notice.

Hi Nightsman. First of all, congrats on receiving your GC! So I received a document from USCIS and under the "Notice Type" it says "Welcome Notice" and under that "Section: Adjustment as direct beneficiary of immigrant petition". The instructions on the lower half of the document has a heading of "Welcome to the United States of America". Anyway, it just says I should be getting my card in 3 weeks. Since you already received your card, I think it's irrelevant that you didn't get the Welcome Notice :)

Thank you so much, Pajama. Yes, I recd the welcome notice today. It says the exact same thing as you mentioned. It is form I-797C (you can see the form no. in the margin of the notice). This is always the form that is used to notify a decision (H1, I-140, I-485...etc).

That brings my case to a close.

Thank you all for sharing information and good luck to all in their GC process.

I will be checking back occasionally to help others.
