Topic: First time re-entry US with GC

I was asked, how long did i stay out of usa and which employer i am working for.
My wife came back one month after me and she mentioned that officer asked her, How did she get her green card and she doesnt have a visa (she still have h4 stamped till next year):))), She replied that she got it because of me, that was the only question for her.

Topic: can a EB green card holder apply for unemployment?

I appreciate the advice of part-time job, and if i speak honestly, i can grab a job quickly, but i am married and have family to support. I hate moving again and again and want to grab a good job (which can take upto a month) rather than grabbing something right away and then move again (extra expenses).
I know some of you guys will say, that i am trying to be too greedy, but in my opinion its professionalism and motivation for better than before.
Thanks

Topic: can a EB green card holder apply for unemployment?

HI, I received my card few months ago, my company is going through restructuring and no body knows if their job is safe. Can i apply for unemployment for a temporary period? or will it haunt me at the time of citizenship. Initially i was planning to get money from my family but recent depreciation of pak rs (30%) against dollar is making it difficult for me.
I'll appreciate any professional advice.

Topic: painful situation

I would like to add another similar incident.
On this memorial day weekend my friend and his wife came to visit us, My friend's wife told me the same story about her mother.
She visited her sister in canada and on the way back when the border officer asked her if she lives in usa, she mentioned that even though she is a permanent resident, she only visits her family here etc and she is living back home.
Officer took her green card and said that you dont need it then. Now her case is in court for almost one year and she has leased a house here in usa and doing job to prove that she is a permanent resident and has an intent to live here.
The real thing is , how do you respond to the officer. One slip of tongue can inflict lot of pain on you.

Topic: Primary Green Card received, Spouse travelling on AP

I have received my green card, but my spouse's case is pending.
I checked with my lawyer and she mentioned that its not a problem at all for my wife to travel on AP.
My wife is planning to come back 15 days before the AP is expiring. (Her H4 stamp is still valid, but if i am not mistaken that status is void now)
Any thoughts?

Topic: Is A# of Green Card supposed to be different then one in 485 receipt?

I am working for the same employer. Never changed.
I checked my OPT EAD and the A# is different.
I dont have my I140 copy (company policy doesnt allow me to see it)
All other docs like 131, AP and 485 had same A# which is different from green card A#.

I received my green card and A#mentioned on it is different then the one mentioned on all my receipts.
Is this common?
