Topic: what is my NOC ?

depends on what you do exactly. Do not get discouraged by internet response. Just get a thorough understanding of the detailed job description for the NOCs according to CIC's website. It also depends on your career level. If you are part of management, as in you are a manager, then you may qualify as a CIS manager under 0 series.

Good luck.

Topic: Confused about new rule?

SaraBc,

Note that applications not meeting the new rule standards are not "rejected" but "returned". There is a big difference. They wanted to make sure people are not thinking they are rejected. Now this is the logical explanation for them stressing the difference. In the unlikely event that they experience undersubscription for Canadian PR, available applications within the immigration quota for the year will be processed even without meeting the prioritization rule.

The new rule is to establish priority in the queue and not to "reject" applications. However we all know that canada immigration will never be undersubscribed to.

Topic: New Rule

Ananya,

Here is my interpretation. The difference is the career levels. You may note overlaps in the description of 0213 and 2173 but 0213 is for MANAGER. That is, those in management. The decision makers of the organization. The 0 series is for business managers. The difference is in the responsibility levels. A 2171 and 2173 may get promoted to management and qualify as 0213. Manager may not necessarily translate to the title "manager" though.

I am not into IT but that is what I figured out for 0xxx and 1112 in the case of finacial manager vs financial analyst.

Topic: Ministerial Instructions releases

if you are a US citizen, then you do not even need the PR directly. You should get a temp work visa and change it to PR later. There are so many jobs in Alberta, depending on your skills, and you may get a job offer that will qualify you for the PNP of Alberta.

i do not believe they will do any discretionary stuffs. The problem will be drawing the line.
You may apply under PnP or family class if applicable.

even if you do not have IA, provided your application was placed in process before feb 27th, 2008, you will be good under the old rules. the official "application received" date is the date on your acknoledgement of receipt letter.

Topic: Detroit Transfers

gjp1,

are you also a detroit transferee?

someone mentioned that he called ottawa and they told him/her that you could do the medical with the generic medical form. I wouldn't take the risk though.
