A few words about me
Thank you Trackitt for being w/ me throughout the GC process. All the information shared and the ability to compare my case w/ others helped a lot. I would have gone mad w/out Trackitt! Good luck to all and God bless everyone!

Topic: How much should Attorney charge for replying to RFE on 485

Any idea how much does attorney charges to respond to a RFE on 485?

My lawyer didn't charge for RFE's on my H1B extension and I-140. But for the RFE on my I-485, he charged me $180.

Topic: I don't know what to do anymore, I feel hopeless

I'm EB3 Phil w/ RD of June 07 and PD of April 04. I was current last March - June and watched USCIS approve a lot of people whose RD was very close to mine (talk about feeling left behind). But somehow, I didn't get approved and only got a RFE w/c I responded to immediately. So I was really looking forward to October just like all EB3's... and was approved on Oct. 3 to my complete surprise. But I have still been tracking EB3 approvals this month and noticed that there are so few. Think my case was pre-adjudicated sometime between March-June and only got approved recently. So I am really rooting for everybody's approval as well. What I'm saying is - since there have been so few approvals, I figure USCIS is probably concentrating on other cases (maybe EB1&2 or naturalization cases). Hopefully, they'll start working on EB3's soon and the approvals will come in droves. Just hang in there and don't worry yet that you've been left behind. Will be praying for all of you:)

Topic: When can start doing a status inquiry?

When I called for SR, the IO told me my RD (according to my Receipt Notice) should be 30 days +1 beyond processing date. However, it is true that they process according to ND and I too noticed that on my I-485 approval they changed my RD to what was suppose to be my ND. But they will still honor the RD on your receipt notice when filing an SR.

Topic: guys any idea when an IO update a case status, i check the online status more than 10 times a day!!!

as you might have noticed, people are discovering they've been approved by checking LUD because CRIS has stopped sending emails for hard LUD's. so go ahead and check them but i agree that 3x a day (and maybe once a day on weekends) should suffice. try not to drive yourself crazy.

Topic: People in Texas are so RACIST... Is overall US like that? Feeling very down on this...

I've been to New Jersey and New York. There are a lot of European immigrants but being Asian, I find there are a lot of "closet racists." My cousins who grew up there tell me they had a hard time when they were in school because of their race. I have lived in California now (near San Francisco) and obviously there are a lot of asians, hispanics, etc. In eight years, I've had no problems and if I ever do encounter a "redneck" they're not originally from here.

Topic: Status changed to welcome notice mailed. No email. Now what?

I recd my card in the mail. What is a welcome notice? What does it say on it?

Do people receive a "notice of action I-797C" - I have not recd anything other than the plastic card.

What is an approval notice.

Hi Nightsman. First of all, congrats on receiving your GC! So I received a document from USCIS and under the "Notice Type" it says "Welcome Notice" and under that "Section: Adjustment as direct beneficiary of immigrant petition". The instructions on the lower half of the document has a heading of "Welcome to the United States of America". Anyway, it just says I should be getting my card in 3 weeks. Since you already received your card, I think it's irrelevant that you didn't get the Welcome Notice :)

Topic: Status changed to welcome notice mailed. No email. Now what?

Btw, I noticed something curious. On my receipt notice for I-485, my RD was 06/14/07 and ND was 07/10/07. When my case was pending on uscis' website, it said they received my application on 07/10/07. Finally, when I received the welcome notice for new permanent resident in the mail, it states that my RD is 07/10/07... guess they do consider the ND as the receipt date.

I'm EB3 Phil w/ PD 04/07/04 and RD 06/14/07. My case is at NSC and I saw the following LUD's but w/ no emails from CRIS:
Oct. 3 - Notice Welcoming New Permanent Resident
Oct. 5 - Soft LUD
Oct. 6 - Card Production Ordered
Oct. 10 - Received Welcome Notice via USPS mail :)

Topic: Life comes at you fast

Life comes at you fast, this is a ad from insurance company, but how true is that. its been over 8 years since I came to US, applied under EB3. No sign of dates moving. When ever I call india Dad asks 'Beta GC Kya hua'. I feel so depressed. I feel like leaving everything and going back, but again my Dad says 'Beta khali haath nahin aana Zindagi se ladna seek', they think if you are in US you will be settled. Damn GC

My father used to say to me whenever I get desperate about GC... it's easy to go back, you can go home anytime... but it will be difficult to go back to US and build a life there again. It has also been 8 years for me and I just got approved last week. But my father passed away last year, so it will be bitter sweet when I come home in the next couple of months. Guess you just have to keep everything in perspective... GC or not, I know my father is smiling and watching over me.
