I think adding spouse 485 only depends on whether the marriage is before or after 485 approval. If it is before, there is no problem to add when PD is current. This has been confirmed by many people including lawyers. |

I asked my lawyer, and they ask for 600 dollars for submitting 485. So I will do it by myself. I just want to get a cover letter to figure out how to explain to USCIS clearly about our case.
BTW, the lawyer said I can submit 485 directly for my wife. |

For 2, does it mean even she is outside US, her green card can still be approved just like other people staying in US?
To maintain GC, maybe she has to get some other documents like reentry permit, any comments? |

Please help on my case:
1. I got my 485 approved and I am going to apply follow-to-join for my wife who is a F1 student in US (we married before 485 approval). Is there a time line before which she must apply or can she file 485 at any time from now?
2. A more complicated situation. She will work abroad for 1-2 years from mid next year. If she leaves before her 485 gets approved, can she keep her application? Or we have to file another application and use different processing route, like I-824?

Hi all,
My 485 (EB1) was approved recently and my wife and I got married several months before the approval. So I would like to file follow to join for her (F-1 in US).
I will really appreciate if someone can answer my questions:
1. Do I need to file I-824? Or only I-485 like what I did for myself? Which application type should I check in part 2 of 485 form?
2. Can someone provide a checklist, especially a cover letter template since I do not know how to emphasize that this is a follow to join case.
